Lisandro Stack-Building

With 2,400 in the pot and three players in the hand going to the {3-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {K-Spades}, the gentleman in the small blind checked to Jeff Lisandro in the big blind, who bet 600. The third player quickly folded from the under-the-gun position, but the small blind called and they proceeded.

They saw a {4-Clubs} turn and once again the small blind checked. This time Lisandro bet 1,000 -- and the small blind chose to give it up.

Lisandro up to 11,500.

No Nguyen for Men

Men Nguyen won't be adding another bracelet to his bustling trophy cabinet just yet; he's just exited from today's tournament. Down to just 800, Nguyen found A-J and duly came over the top of a 500 opening raise. Sadly for the Master, his opponent revealed a dominating A-Q, which remained good five cards later.

No Oma-Help Needed for Ferguson

Chris Ferguson raised preflop and another fairly well-stacked gentleman in the big blind called.

Mr. Big Blind check-called 600 from Ferguson on the {Q-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {5-Clubs} flop, and checked again on the {J-Hearts} turn. He didn't like the 1,600 bet Ferguson put in then, though, and passed swiftly.

An impassive Ferguson, turning back to an article entitled "Oma-Help Me!" in his magazine, raked in the pot.

Just moments later and a much bigger pot went his way. A gentleman moved in with {A-?} {Q-?}, but Ferguson had picked up pocket kings. The {A-?} {Q-?} failed to hit anything, and Ferguson moved on up to the environs of 27,000.

Aces Hold for Shakerchi

Talal Shakerchi has found the American Airlines at just the right time and near trebled through as a result. All in for 1,800 with {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}, he found action in two places against {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}, and an ever shorter stack's {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

The {Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop was threatening, but the {9-Spades} meant only one of two queens could hurt him. The dealer teased on the river by flicking the card face-down and revealing a lick of paint in the process, but when he turned it over, it was a king rather than a lady and a relieved Shakerchi scooped up the pot.

Ganesh Bathmanathan: 22,000

Hands in the Cookie Jar

Rob Garfield just experienced one of those awkward moments when he's forced to reveal filth. Having made a standard raise preflop, the small blind moved all in for shrapnel, and Garfield made the obligatory call.

As the short stack revealed {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, Garfield meekly lay his {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} onto the felt. But any two cards can win in this game (well, except jokers or the bridge rules), and following an {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs} board, Garfield was adding a few extra chips to his stack and shaking the hand of his unfortunate victim.

He's jumped up slightly to 8,500, but his reputation is in tatters.

Feldman Felted

Facing an early position raise of 700, Andrew Feldman fingered his chips pensively before hesitantly moving all in for around 2,500.

However, it wasn't the initial raiser he should have been concerned about, as David Docherty tanked in the small blind with a stack of circa 4,000 before also sliding his chips across the line. The initial raiser asked for a count, but eventually relinquished his hand.

Feldman = {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Docherty = {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

Board = {2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
