Numbers Update

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Right now the tournament board reads that 218 players have registered for this event. Last year, the event reached its cap at 360 players, but unless a truckload of players appear at the door, this year should be much shorter. Much of this has to do with the amount of tournaments going on right now around that players are spread across, both live and online.

Even though numbers may be down for this event, they are expected to rise as the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe moves forward. More players will make the trip once they've finished doing what they're doing. Also, the fields are still extremely stacked with players such as Phil Ivey, Dan O'Brien, Vanessa Selbst, Erik Cajelais, Tristan Wade and Scotty Nguyen all in the mix.

Trip Sixes for Martinez

Barbara Martinez
Barbara Martinez

From the button, Barbara Martinez raised to 325. Oliver Spiedel reraised to 950 from the big blind and Martinez made the call to see the {Q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop. Both players checked.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Spiedel check-called a bet of 900 from Martinez. The dealer then dealt the {6-Clubs} on the river. Spiedel checked and Martinez fired 1,300. Spiedel tanked and then tossed in a crying call. Martinez showed the {A-Spades}{6-Spades} for trip sixes and Spiedel mucked.

Kuether and Cajelais Still Battling

Over on Table 18, Erik Cajelais and Joe Kuether have been battling all day long, and the two just played another pot that saw some chips get sent over to Kuether.

Kuether had raised from the cutoff seat and Cajelais made the call from the big blind. Following that, the dealer ran out the {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop and both players checked through to see the {4-Hearts} land on the turn. Cajelais checked fourth street and Kuether bet 550. Cajelais called.

The {3-Clubs} completed the board on the river and Cajelais checked. Kuether tossed out 1,025 and Cajelais called.

Kuether turned up the {A-Clubs}{3-Spades} for two pair, aces and threes. Cajelais mucked and Kuether scooped the pot.
