The tournament clock tells us that 302 players are currently registered here on Day 1b, which is already greater than the 295 from yesterday. A few more will bring the total field over 600, and we expect it will go a bit beyond that as registration is open through the break at the end of Level 4.
We're not sure how it happened, but the seat formerly occupied by two-time WSOP bracelet winner Andy Frankenberger (which happened to be the exact same seat he had on Day 1a) is now supporting a new player. We can only deduce that Frankenberger has been an early elimination here on Day 1b.
Meanwhile, we've discovered Chance Kornuth in the field, and also saw Marvin Rettenmaier making his way to his seat.

Working your way through the poker ranks can be tough. For every success story, there are dozens of futile tales. Luckily for Joe Kuether, he can count himself in the former camp. The 24-year-old has followed in the footsteps of Phil Galfond and Phil Hellmuth by going from the classrooms of the University of Wisconsin Madison to the bright lights of Las Vegas. While Kuether hasn’t attained the extraordinary results as his fellow alumni, he is well on his way to a successful poker career.
Kuether recently made poker headlines when he conquered a 332-player field at the World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah’s Rincon Main Event for $111,104. Kuether defeated a stacked field and a tough final table that included WSOP Circuit Bicycle Casino Main Event Champ Freddy Deeb.
Since 2009, Kuether has amassed $888,907, including $ 634,877 of which has come in 2012.

In a recent hand, there was around 700 in the pot on a flop of when Kuether bet 350 from the big blind after the small had checked. His opponent made the call and then checked the turn. Not one to slow down, Kuether slid out 400, which proved enough to get the job done. It was a small pot, but Kuether is already making the most of his second bullet after being eliminated on Day 1a.
Meanwhile, we've noticed Tristan Wade and Roger Hairabedian have both opted to re-enter and have taken their seat.
With around 1,200 in the pot and a board reading , Alain Roy checked from the hijack and opened the door for his opponent to bet 500 on the button. Roy thought for a solid 30 seconds before tossing in a call, but mucked when the button rolled over for a full house.
Tournament Director Jack Effel has just finished his welcome speech and the cards are in the air here at the Majestic Barrière. The tournament clock say there are already 267 players registered for today's event, and with registration open through the break at the end of Level 4, there's no doubt we'll surpass yesterday's total.
The room has a hustle and bustle about it as players like David "ODB" Baker, Andy Frankenberer and Todd Terry take a shot on Day 1b. We're off to the tournament floor to compile a list of today's notables.
