Benefield Drops Down

David Benefield raised to 60,000 preflop and John Juanda called from the big blind. The flop came down {K-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Juanda check-called 50,000.

On the turn the {8-Hearts} hit, and both players checked. The river brought the {3-Clubs}, and again the action was checked.

Juanda turned over {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, and took down the pot.

Gruissem Takes One

Level 18 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded to start-of-the-day chip leader John Juanda in the cutoff seat, and he opened with a raise to 60,000. From the small blind, Philipp Gruissem called. Everyone else folded, and the flop came down {K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. Both players checked.

On the turn, the {3-Hearts} landed, and Gruissem led with a bet of 70,000. Juanda folded, and Gruissem snatched up the pot.

Watson Doubles

Mike Watson
Mike Watson

From under the gun, 2008 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event champion John Juanda raised to 60,000. Play then folded to Mike Watson on the button. With his short stack of 145,000, Watson reraised all in. The two blinds folded, then Juanda called.

Juanda: {A-Spades}{8-Spades}
Watson: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The flop came down clean for Watson when the {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} rolled out. The turn was the {7-Spades} to give Watson a set of sevens, but Juanda could now hit a spade to win the pot as long as it didn't pair the board. The river completed the board with the {K-Diamonds}, and Watson doubled.

On the next hand, action folded to Watson and he raised all in. No one called, but Watson was still able to chip up a bit and he's now back over 400,000.

Patience is Key

Level 18 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

The action has been slow at the final table since Jani Sointula doubled up. Everyone seems to be looking at Mike Watson who's the shortest stack at the table. So far no more all-in showdowns, but they will come soon!
