Cormier Doubles Despite Turn Scare

Level 3 : 75/150, 25 ante

Jeff Cormier checked a {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop in middle position and saw a player in the cutoff bet 700. Another player called from the button, and Cormier made it 1,800. The cutoff called, making it heads up to a {7-Clubs}. Cormier put his last 2,000 or so in blind before the card even hit. The cutoff made the call with {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a set, but Cormier had {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for top pair and then a flush. The river {q-Hearts} failed to pair the board for Cormier's opponent.

"Gamble, Gamble"

Level 3 : 75/150, 25 ante
Tu Tuan To

Tu Tuan was all in from under the gun for 9,600 and had been called by a player in middle position when we got to their table. Tuan opened {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, and his opponent could only chuckle and show a dominated {9-Spades}{6-Spades}, to the shock of many players at the table.

"Gamble, gamble," Tuan said.

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, locking it up on the turn for Tuan. He got a full double, while his opponent abandoned his remaining few chips.

Clinkscales Can't Believe it

Level 3 : 75/150, 25 ante

Rex Clinkscales opened in middle position and got a call on his left before Georgios Zisimopoulos made it 1,700 on the button. Clinkscales called after some thought and the other player called as well. The flop came {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and Zisimopoulos had a bet of 2,025 called by only the player on Clinkscales' left. Both checked when the {j-Hearts} paired the board and the first player fired out 4,500 on the {9-Hearts} river.

Zisimopoulos shoved all in for what looked like 5,325. Despite the fantastic price, the bettor folded after about 30 seconds, leading Clinkscales to clutch his head in disbelief.

"And By the Way, That Was a One-Outer"

Kristen Bicknell

We didn't see when the money went in, but Kristen Bicknell and Federico Quevedo both made boats on a board of {2-}{8-}{5-}{8-}{q-}. Quevedo had {5-}{5-} for fives full and was covered by Bicknell, who had {q-}{q-} for the nut full house.

Quevedo backed out of his chair, knocking it down.

"Sorry, I was throwing a tantrum," he joked.

"By the way, that was a one-outer," his neighbor said, indicating he had a queen.

Quevedo could only smile and shake his head.

All-in Blind Before Break

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Rex Clinkscales doubled up Felipe Ramos in the next-to-last hand before break when Ramos' {a-}{q-} held against {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for 4,650.

"If I go all in blind will someone call me?" Clinkscales asked.

He indeed jammed second to act for about 6,000. A player on the button went all in too, saying he hadn't looked. Ramos joined in from the small blind.

Button: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Ramos: {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Clinkscales: {j-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

"Cheater!" Clinkscales said, with the player on the button swearing he hadn't looked.

The board ran out {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Hearts}. That meant the queens stayed best, but that player only had about 3,000. Clinkscales doubled through Ramos on the side pot for 2,975 and players all went on break for 20 minutes.
