Sammartino Busts Sontheimer

Level 11 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

We found Steffen Sontheimer in the cutoff and all in. The board read {2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and he had about 200,000. Dario Sammartino was on but button and slapped in calling chips. Sontheimer revealed {q-}{j-} but he was outkicked by the Italian's {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}.

Leah Ousts Eiler

Level 11 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Mike Leah
Mike Leah

Andreas Eiler went all in for 453,000 over a Timothy Adams open. Mike Leah shoved over the top for about 1,600,000. The remaining players, including Adams, folded and Leah showed {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}. He was racing against the {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} of Eiler.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Leah won the hand, eliminating Eiler.

Aido Over Gruissem in Preflop War

Level 11 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Philipp Gruissem raised to 48,000 in middle position and got three-bet by Sergio Aido in the cutoff to 155,000. Gruissem got a rough count of Aido's stack and then put in 360,000. Aido immediately shoved and Gruissem folded just as quickly.

Kempe and Adams Win All Ins

Level 11 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Rainer Kempe
Rainer Kempe

Timothy Adams busted a player after the two got all in on the flop. Adams had top-top against an open-ended straight draw and he held.

At a nearby table, Rainer Kempe and Andrew Leathem were all in and Kempe was at risk. The good news for Kempe was that he was ahead with {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} against the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} of Leathem. The better news was that a king came on the flop and the board completed {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}.

Leathem still has a healthy stack with over 1.6 million, and Kempe might have found some footing entering the final hour of play in Day 1.

Triple For the Wolf

Level 10 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Yair Bitoun
Yair Bitoun

Yair Bitoun went all in for his last 15,000 and Ryan Riess raised to 35,000 on the button. Ivan Luca came along from the big blind and the flop came {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}.

Both Riess and Luca checked. The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and Luca bet 24,000. Riess called. The river was the {2-Spades} Luca checked this time. Riess bet 65,000 and Luca folded.

Riess showed {a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and took the side pot, but the main pot went to Bitoun who made two pair with {k-Spades}{2-Clubs}.

Bitoun is often referred to as "The Wolf" and has been playing many of the streamed cash games during the WSOP Europe.

Three Go Bust

Level 10 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Philipp Gruissem bet 30,000 from the cutoff on a flop of {3-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and quickly called when big blind Christian Christner check-shoved for 148,000.

Gruissem: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Christner: {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Christner was in awful shape and bricked out on the {3-Hearts} {8-Hearts} runout.

At nearby tables, Dominik Nitsche and Nick Petrangelo busted out as well.
