Banana for the Win

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Francois Evard raised to 2,200 from under the gun and Serif Gozegir called in the hijack. Alexander Neff looked at Gozegir to see how much the raise was.

"He raised!" Gozegir said to Neff while pointing at Evard, "me, banana".

Neff smiled, "Ok, I'm banana, I'm gonna call".

Florin Rusu also called in the big blind.

The flop came {8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, everyone checked to Gozegir who bet 3,000. Neff and Evard both made the call while Rusu gave up on the hand.

They all checked through the {4-Clubs} on the turn to the {a-Hearts} on the river. Neff now fired a bet of 12,000 over the line. Evard looked at the bet and folded. Gozegir needed a bit more time to consider his options and then folded showing the {9-Spades}. Neff got the pot pushed his way and didn't show any cards.

"Eight?" Gozegir asked Neff. Neff shook his head.

"I had an eight," Yoan Argence said.

"He had the other one," Gozegir said.

"No eight" Neff said but didn't provide any further information on what he did have in the end.

A Gift for Ruzicka

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The action folded around to Boubekeur Benhalima who raised it up from the hijack. Vojtech Ruzicka stuck in a three-bet only to have Benhalima four-bet shove for 47,200. Ruzicka slammed his chips into the middle and the cards were tabled.

Vojtech Ruzicka: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Boubekeur Benhalima: {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

Ruzicka was surprisingly way ahead of his opponent and the flop of {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} changed nothing other than it provided some chop outs. The {j-Hearts} landed on the turn and the {a-Clubs} fell on the river. Ruzicka's two pair with a king kicker was good enough to eliminate Benhalima. The rest of the table sat with open mouths as to how fortunate Ruzicka was to pick up the 47,000 plus chips.

Loeser Fails to Make Day 2

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Manig Loeser was hoping for a different result after failing to move on through the first two Day 1's. However, he got the last of his chips in the middle with {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} but unfortunately ran into the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} of Mario Llapi on his right.

The board ran out clean for Llapi and Loeser ran out of chips for the third straight day.

Garcia Doubles Through Deglinne

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Cord Garcia raised to 2,500 from the hijack and was called by Mark Melis on the button. Anton Deglinne three-bet to 13,500 in the small blind and the big blind folded. With the action back on Garcia, he four-bet shipped all in for 36,100 which got Melis out of the way and Delginne called.

Cord Garcia: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Anton Delginne: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Garcia remained in the lead with his pocket fives. The turn was the {2-Hearts} and the river brought the {9-Spades} as Garcia held on for the full double up.
