Jean-Noel Thorel

Just 15 minutes before the first break of the day, there was the first cry of 'Seat open!' from the Super High Roller field.

Jean-Noel Thorel had left the building; Mikita Badziakouski informing us on a {k-}{j-}{7-}{9-} board with three diamonds, the pair got it in with Thorel holding {q-}{10-} for the nut straight.

Badziakouski however held {a-Diamonds}{x-Diamonds} for the nut flush and sent Thorel to the rail.

Thorel Pays Off Mateos

Level 2 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel opened to 30,000 from under the gun and was called by Adrian Mateos in the small blind and Koray Aldemir in the big blind. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades} and the action checked to Thorel who continued for 40,000. Mateos check-raised to 150,000 which got Aldemir out but Thorel still called.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts} and Mateos led out for another 300,000. Thorel quickly called and the {k-Hearts} completed the board. Mateos put together a bet of 515,000 and Thorel wasted little time before looking him up. Mateos flipped over {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for a set of fours and Thorel mucked his cards.

Foxen Tries to "Steal" From Kempe

Level 2 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

It folded around to Alex Foxen on the button and he raised to 30,000. Rainer Kempe defended his big blind and they saw the {Q-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop appear.

Both players checked this time and the turn was the {10-Spades}. Kempe checked to Foxen again and this time he bet 45,000. Kempe called and the {8-Hearts} river was dealt.

This time both players checked again Foxen turned open a {10-}, but as soon as Kempe opened up {K-Spades}{J-Clubs} Foxen mucked his cards.

Shan Huang asked Foxen why he bet on the turn. "Why do you bet the turn without a jack? Are you trying to steal from Kempe? Don't try, he's good."

Foxen added he had two pair and Kempe was the one stacking chips.
