Long Day 2 Looming Ahead in Event #3: €1,350 Mini Main Event No-Limit Hold'em

Pulkit Goyal, Day 1b Chip Leader
Pulkit Goyal, Day 1b Chip Leader

After three starting days, a field of 766 strong showed up for Event #3: €1,350 Mini Main Event No-Limit Hold'em at the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe. 153 of them are still left in contention to capture WSOP gold as well as the top prize of €167,056 to be awarded in King's Resort on Sunday, October 20.

Before the biggest slice of the €873,240 is awarded, the remaining contenders have to plow their way through an ultra-long day 2 in order to reach the final table. With Day 1's originally supposed to play down to 15% originally, a change by the hosts to stop at 20% instead means the money stages are yet to be reached. 115 out of 153 will receive a cash prize for their accomplishments.

The top three spots are nicely divided between the chip leaders of all three respective starting flights: Day 1b leader Pulkit Goyal (1,518,000), Day 1a boss Aleksandr Merzhvinskii (1,255,000) and Day 1c top stack Ismail Kalkan (1,239,000) will start the day on top. Plenty of notables still have a shot as well, with the likes of Asi Moshe (772,000), Shaun Deeb (736,000), Jeff Lisandro (640,000), and Robert Campbell (351,000) all in contention.

Cards will be back in the air at 1 p.m. and action will resume in level 16 with blinds at 5,000/10,000 and a big blind ante of 10,000. Levels will be 40 minutes throughout the tournament. Follow along with PokerNews for all the latest on the WSOPE from King's Resort in Rozvadov.

Lampropulos Stuns Deeb With Set over Set

Level 17 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

An early shocker over at Maria Lampropulos' and Shaun Deeb's table ended in the latter hitting the rail shortly after a brutal setup. On a {q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop, Deeb check-called 20,000 after being the preflop raiser.

On the {3-Spades} turn, Deeb checked, Lampropulos bet 95,000, Deeb check-raised to 265,000, Lampropulos shoved all in for around 600,000 and Deeb called.

Maria Lampropulos: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Shaun Deeb: {7-}{7-}

Deeb had just one out but the river was the {8-Diamonds} instead to give Lampropulos quads. Left short, Deeb busted shortly after.

Zhong Chen Bubbles the Mini Main Event

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Zhong Chen (middle)
Zhong Chen (middle)

After Moritz Koelsch had raised, Zhong Chen three-bet shoved 170,000 from the big blind. Reluctantly, Koelsch called it off. Once all hands on the other tables were completed, the players went to showdown.

Zhong Chen: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Moritz Koelsch: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The Dutchman was racing for his tournament life and found himself in a deep hole after the {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} flop. Neither the {10-Clubs} turn nor {a-Spades} river turned it around, making him the last player to leave empty-handed. All 115 other players are guaranteed at least €1,793.

Another Quad Eights for Lampropulos

Level 20 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante
Maria Lampropulos
Maria Lampropulos

Three players saw an {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop together with Maria Lampropulos first to act from the big blind. She checked, Pawel Zawadowicz bet 70,000, Aviad Regev called on the button and Lampropulos called as well.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and Regev bet 125,000 after two checks. Lampropulos was the only caller. The {7-Spades} river went check/check and the Argentinian showed {j-Hearts}{8-Spades} for the flopped quads.

It wasn't the first time today she hit four eights, earlier against Shaun Deeb she got there as well.

David Levi: {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Robert Campbell: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Pulkit Goyal: {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Rainer Heneka: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Aleksandr Merzhvinskii: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Leonid Yanovski: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
