Classic Boatman Speech Play Secures Gigantic Chip Lead Pot

Level 17 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Barny Boatman
Barny Boatman

There were 60,000 in the middle and four players saw a flop of 772. Barny Boatman bet 15,000 from the hijack and was called by Sascha Minerva on the cutoff.

Fabian Rolli check-raised to 60,000 from the big blind and was cold-called by under the gun Maor Zaharagi. Boatman was undeterred by all the action that followed his initial bet by raising to 190,000 which gained a fold from Minerva and Rolli.

Zaharagi went into the tank and stared down Boatman. The Londoner looked at the board, then turned to his opponent and said "What's your kicker?" which prompted Zaharagi to rip it all in for 400,000. Boatman snap-called.

Maor Zaharagi: 76
Barny Boatman: 22

Boatman's speech play worked like a treat as it triggered Zaharagi to shove with trip sevens against his flopped boat. The JA completed the board and Boatman is the first player to pass the seven-figure mark and took the chip lead. The Israeli Zaharagi exits before the money despite coming into Day 2 as third in chips.

Matthew Davenport
Matthew Davenport

Only 81 players remain and will aim to make it to the top 75 spots, which will lock up a prize money of at least €2,325 for the efforts. All the players below came up short of that goal and it remains to be seen whether or not the bubble will burst prior to or after the first break of the day.

Beckmann Doubles Through Panasiuk

With around 50,000 in the middle to the K62108 river, Artsiom Panasiuk bet 50.000 and Simon Beckmann pushed all-in for 129,500.

Panasiuk called after more than two minutes and Beckmann tabled the K8 for two pair, which secured the double as Panasiuk only had 86 for inferior eights and sixes.

Forman Busts Two in a Row

Level 17 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Miroslav Forman
Miroslav Forman

Just before the blinds had gone up, two players were eliminated in consecutive hands and Miroslav Forman was responsible for both casualties.

Renji Mao had min-raised from under the gun and Bruno Desimoni Cunha Mota pushed in the small blind. Forman jammed in the big blind and Mao folded the 88.

Bruno Desimoni Cunha Mota: A4
Miroslav Forman: AQ

The KJ22Q board kept Forman ahead all the way.

[Removed:490] then opened to 9,000 and Michael Horn jammed for the 40,500 he had behind. Forman piled it in fromn the big blind and Kraft folded.

Michael Horn: JJ
Miroslav Forman: AK

The A66 flop left Horn on the ropes and he sighed "every single time, you gotta be kidding me" in his native German. No help came with the Q turn and 9 river to also oust Horn.

Ramo Balic check-called a bet of 13,000 by Jonathan Pastore on the AQ4 before they checked the Q turn. Balic then jammed the 4 river and Pastore tank-folded.

Soon after that two tables over, Frederik Thiemer went to war with Stefan Bittger as the latter was all-in with an overpair on the 963 flop. He had the QQ and Thiemer flipped over the 54 for an open-ended straight draw.

Nothing changed with the 4 turn and Bittger stayed ahead with the Q river.
