Astedt Has a Beautiful Hand

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Niklas Astedt opened to 3,000 from early position before Corel Theuma, the winner of WSOPE Event #1, three-bet to 8,500. Astedt called.

Astedt, getting a massage, check-called for 6,500 on the Qx9x6x flop, bringing in the J turn. Both players checked and the K river completed the board. Astedt fired out 21,000, releasing a sigh from Theuma. He used up a time bank before folding his hand.

Astedt was kind enough to show Theuma he had a straight with J10.

"It's such a beautiful hand, I had to show you," Astedt said, dragging in the pot.

Roh Caught Speeding

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Dongjae Roh limped in from under the gun. Fatos Haxhaj called from middle position before Sooraj Sairam made it 7,500 from the hijack. Michael Rosaman, Aliaksandr Shylko, Erick Lindgren and Dan Cates all folded before Roh called. Haxhaj also returned his cards to the dealer.

Roh check-called for 5,500 on the QJ7 flop, bringing in the 7 turn. Roh led out for 5,000 and was called. He sized up to 12,000 on the 8 river, and Sairam called once more.

Roh had air with A4 and Sairam's 99 took the pot.

Expensive Mistake

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Xu Aiguo looked down at his cards and raised to 11,000 from early position. Hearing the reaction from players around the table, he quickly realized he had sized much larger than expected. “Sorry guys, I made a mistake,” he said immediately.

To punish the misclick, Kumar Macawili in the small blind three-bet to 31,000. Aiguo went into the tank but ultimately had no choice but to fold, losing nearly half of his stack in the process.

Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

Martin Kabrhel is in midseason form two months before the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas begins, at least when it comes to his behavior.

The polarizing but skilled high roller is currently competing in the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) series on his home turf in the Czech Republic, and not everyone is happy to have him around.
