Break It Up, Baby

We dropped those last two players just in time for our third break of the day. When we return our runners will be just 12 - but with the average stack a massive 54 big blinds when the blinds go up, it could still be a good long while before we reach a final table...

Clint Coffee Eliminated in 14th Place; Barny Boatman Eliminated in 13th Place (£42,454)

Barny Boatman - 13th Place
Barny Boatman - 13th Place

Wow, what an all-in situation we just witnessed on the secondary table upstairs on the balcony. Roland de Wolfe was the beneficiary of waking up with the {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} after two of his opponents had gone all in, Barny Boatman and Clint Coffee. Here's the showdown.

Coffee: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Boatman: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
De Wolfe: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}

De Wolfe looked to be in great shape having both of his opponents dominated as they went to the flop. The flop came down {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Boatman picked up a pair of kings while Coffee added a straight draw. De Wolfe was still in front though with two cards to come.

The turn brought the {9-Spades} and only a king or a queen or cause de Wolfe to lose the hand and have his aces cracked.

The river completed the board with the {8-Hearts} and that was it. The tournament staff made sure to count down all three stacks and confirm who finished in what position. Coffee was the shortest of the three and was eliminated in 14th place. Boatman came close, but didn't have as many chips as de Wolfe and was sent to the rail in 13th as he had more than Coffee. Both earned £42,454. De Wolfe now has a whopping 1.16 million as the remaining 12 players head into break.

Levi Means Business

From the cutoff seat, Nicolas Levi raised to 29,000, and Ronald Lee (button) and Dan Fleyshman (big blind) put in the matching amounts to see a flop.

It came {3-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {6-Hearts}, and Levi continued out with what looked like 51,000 chips. That folded the monkey in the middle, but Fleyshman quickly called to proceed in the hand.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds}, and this time Levi meant business. He made a healthy bet of 140,000, and that was enough to reluctantly fold Fleyshman and earn him the pot.

Boatman Staying Afloat

Judging by the size of the pot, it looked as though Barny Boatman had limped preflop, but either way, three players saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} where Boatman led for 17,000 after his two opponents (David Peters and Clint Coffee in the blinds) had checked before him. Only Coffee called.

Both players checked the {3-Hearts} turn, but Boatman decided to fire at the {6-Spades} river, sliding 55,000 across the felt. Again, Coffee made the call, but was soon met with the bad news as Boatman revealed {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for the flopped set and turned full house.

It was difficult to count his chips as he was still raking them in, but Boatman seems to be staying afloat with around 350,000.

Bam! Ker-Powell!

Brian Powell - ladies man
Brian Powell - ladies man

Dan Steinberg raised from the button, and Brian Powell moved in for his last 145,000 or so from the small blind. A call, and they were on their backs.

Steinberg: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Powell: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Board: {2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Despite the good-natured calls of, "Queen!" from Steinberg's brother Max at the rail, which he swiftly changed to, "Queen jack king!" when Steinberg gave him a look, no-one hit anything and the ladies held up.

Powell is back in the game on 300,000.

Hoyt Corkins Eliminated in 15th Place (£42,454)

Hoyt Corkins - 15th Place
Hoyt Corkins - 15th Place

Action folded to Hoyt Corkins in the cutoff seat. Corkins raised to 35,000 before play fell on Fabrizio Baldassari on the button. Baldassari reraised to 102,000 and the two blinds got out of the way. Corkins reraised to 212,000 and then Baldassari moved all in. Corkins had about 350,000 total and made the call for the rest of his chips.

Corkins' {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} only had one overcard to the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for Baldassari. The flop, turn and river ran out {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Baldassari's kings held up. He had Corkins covered and sent him to the rail in 15th place, moving his stack to over one million in chips.

Making a Meal of It

We're absolutely craving some food up here on the stage, and Dan Fleyshman has just been delivered a piping hot bowl of soup and a deliciously crisp looking salad to enjoy tableside. That makes us jealous.

It looks like there's a hand brewing at the table, but, in fact, that really seems less important now.

"Can you see what the bet size is?" I asked my blogging partner.

"Can you see what the soup is today from here?" our intrepid reporter "danafish" asked in reply.

Levi Not Braking

Nicolas Levi - shiny white hat
Nicolas Levi - shiny white hat

There had been a raise preflop (we're guessing it was from Nicolas Levi on the button, and Andrew Pantling called out of the big blind) and the flop read {k-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Pantling checked to Levi, who bet 23,000 - but Pantling then check-raised to 73,000.

Levi asked how much he had behind (it looked like 330,000 from where we were standing) and played with a stack of white T25,000 chips for a while - but eventually he folded and Pantling moved up to 485,000.

Since then, Levi has increased the aggression. A couple hands later, Marc Inizan opened for 27,000, but folded to Levi's 65,000 reraise. The next hand, Levi opened to 30,000, but no-one wanted to tangle and he upped his stack to 650,000.

Italian Meatballs

Fabrizio Baldassari
Fabrizio Baldassari

After a period of inactivity, Fabrizio Baldassari got busy with a raise to 37,000 from the cut-off with {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. David Peters three-bet to 97,000 in the small blind and Baldassari made the call.

On the {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop, Peters came out firing to the tune of 103,000, but Baldassari showed he had the meatballs and made a minimum raise to 206,000. Peters made the fold and the Italian picked up a nice pot with queen high. He now has 650,000.
