Wynn Millions Day 4: Clayton Maguire Leads Final 18 Players; Ho, Foxen & Bicknell All Fall

On Thursday, the $10,000 buy-in, $10,000,000 GTD Wynn Millions continued with Day 4, which saw 61 players from a 1,328-entry field return to action.

In just four levels of play, the field was whittled down to the final 18 contenders with Clayton Maguire and his stack of 4.93 million leading the way.

According to The Hendon Mob, Maguire has nearly $1.5 million in lifetime earnings including a career-best $368,159 for winning the 2009 EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final. He also won a gold bracelet in 2016 when he won the World Series of Poker Online Event #66: $1,000 NLH for $210,279.

Others still in contention for the $2,018,866 first-place prize are Salim Admon (4.575 million), Philip Shing (4.32 million), Dylan Smith (4.14 million), and Julian Milliard (3.865 million), who round out the top five. Plus, WSOP bracelets winner Sandeep Pulusani (3.845 million) and Anthony Marquez (825,000), Andrew Moreno (3.255 million), Toby Lewis (2.665 million), and WPT champ Ilyas Muradi (2.3 million) are all still alive.

Maria Ho, the last female player in the field, nearly survived the night but saw her run come to an end in 20th place. That is when she jammed her short stack with ace-three suited only to have Maguire wake up with two red tens. The board ran out clean and Ho headed to the payout to collect $97,274 in prize money.

Others to fall during the course of play on Day 4 were Jesse Sylvia (21st - $84,956), Day 1c chip leader Joseph Zona (24th - $74,522), Cliff Josephy (27th - $74,522), Day 2c chip leader Frank Funaro (28th - $65,485), Ari Engel (41st - $57,952), Day 2ab chip leader Dominique Mosley (46th - $51,650), Kristen Bicknell (53rd - $51,650), Alex Foxen (57th - $46,406), and Nadya Magnus (59th - $46,406).

Alex Foxen
Alex Foxen

As for engaged poker couple Foxen and Bicknell, the former was the first to fall in a wild hand against Jesse Yaginuma. It happened when Yaginuma raised from middle position and Foxen jammed from the cutoff for about 330,000. It folded back around to Yaginuma who called.

Foxen was ahead with pocket queens while Yaginuma had ace-queen. The ace-high flop gave Yaginuma the lead, but a queen on the turn gave it back to Foxen. Unfortunately for him, the river was another ace to give Yaginuma the superior full boat.

As for his fiancé, Bicknell three-bet jammed her short stack with ace-seven and was called by Shing, who had pocket kings. He wound up flopping a set and that was all she wrote for Bicknell.

PokerNews will be back on Friday at Noon local for Day 5 action, during which time the field will play down to a final table of nine. Be sure to join us then as the 2021 Wynn Millions rolls on.

Play Ending for the Night

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Given the fast pace of eliminations, the tournament staff has decided to end play for the night a level early. The final 18 players will now bag and tag for the night before coming back on Friday at Noon for Day 5 when they will play down to the final table.

Stay tuned for updated chip counts and a recap of the day's play.

Santiago Plante Eliminated in 19th Place ($97,274)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Santiago Plante
Santiago Plante

Action folded to Santiago Plante in the small blind and he just limped. WPT champ Ilyas Muradi then raised to 220,000 from the big and Plante limp-jammed for around 1 million. Muradi snap-called and Plante discovered the bad news.

Santiago Plante: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Ilyas Muradi: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop improve Muradi to a full house and left Plante drawing to runner-runner treys. The {4-Spades} turn took away any chance of that happening and he headed for the payout desk after the meaningless {a-Spades} was run out on the river.

Clayton Maguire: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Maria Ho: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}

Ho was looking for some help but was left wanting as the board ran out a dry {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

Thomas Boivin was all in for his last 30,000 and Andrew Moreno raised to 90,000 from middle position. Joseph Zona, fresh off his double, three-bet jammed for 1.255 million from the small blind only to have Jaime Cervantes four-bet over the top from the big. Moreno got out of the way and all three hands were turned up.

Jaime Cervantes: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Joseph Zona: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Thomas Boivin: {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Cervantes was out in front and stayed there as the board ran out a safe {2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} to give him the double elimination.
