Laplante Sends Soderstrom to the Rail

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Ryan Laplante opened for 1,600 from the hijack and David "ODB" Baker called from the cutoff. Tomas Soderstrom then three-bet jammed all in for 14,300 from the big blind and Laplante called. Baker got out of the way and the cards were turned on their backs.

Ryan Laplante: {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Tomas Soderstrom: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Laplante was ahead but Soderstrom was drawing to two live cards. Fortunately for Laplante, the board ran out a lowly {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and his ace-high took down the pot.

Soderstrom isn't done though as he immediately opted to re-enter the tournament.

The players have been sent on their 75-minute dinner break. Cards will be back in the air at 7:45 p.m. local time. Late registration and re-entries remain open throughout the night. When players return, they'll play four more levels before bagging Day 1.

Rocha Takes Big Chunk of Farrell's Stack

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Ben Farrell
Ben Farrell

With 15,000 in the pot and a flop of {2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, Alex Rocha was in the cutoff debating what to do as his opponent, Ben Farrell, had bet 3,500 from the button.

Eventually, Rocha called and then checked the {q-Hearts} turn. Farrell upped his bet to 14,000 and Rocha took his time before calling to see the {9-Hearts}, which put four hearts on the board.

Rocha waited a bit before checking it over to Farrell, who bet 30,000. Rocha paused for a few beats before check-raising all in and Farrell snap-folded to conserve the 16,000 he had back.

Big Slick for Morrison

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

David "ODB" Baker raised to 1,600 from early position and action folded to Israel Morrison, who defended his big blind to see a {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop, which both players checked.

Morrison then bet 3,000 on the {2-Diamonds} turn, Baker called, and the {j-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Morrison bet again, this time 4,500, and Baker thought a bit before making the call. Morrison rolled over the {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and it was good as Baker sent his hand to the muck.
