The Stammdogg Burns

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Keven Stammen
Keven Stammen

Action folded to WPT champ Keven Stammen, the last player to register this tournament, was on the button and he raised to 35,000, which Robert Fallon and Kahle Burns called from the small and big blinds respectively and the flop came down {k-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Two checks saw Stammen continue for 50,000, Fallon folded, and Burns called. When the {9-Hearts} paired the board on the turn, Burns led out for 75,000 and called when Stammen raised all in for approximately 240,000.

Keven Stammen: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}
Kahle Burns: {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Burns turned trips and he sent Stammen to the rail in 38th place after the {8-Hearts} was put out on the river.

Kahle Burns
Kahle Burns

Kahle Burns got his stack of 350,000 all in preflop and was racing for his tournament life against Ron West.

Kahle Burns: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Ron West: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Burns was just looking to hold to score the double, and that's exactly what he did when the board ran out {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs} to give him a full boat.

Rocco Playing Big Stack Bully

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

We caught the action on a board reading {6-Clubs}{9-Spades}{j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. Current chipleader Michael Rocco was headsup in the hand and had slid out a pot-sized bet of 175,000.

His opponent in the hand had the 175,000 counted out in front of him but hadn't yet committed to making the call. After some deep thought the player folded, which sent yet another pot to Rocco.

West is Best

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

After a mini preflop raising war Ron West and Taylor Wilson found themselves all in, with West at risk but with the better hand.

Ron West: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Taylor Wilson: {j-}{j-}

West had a brief scare when the {j-Hearts} appeared right in the window on the flop, but it was immediately followed by the {k-Hearts}{3-Spades}. The {7-Clubs}{7-Spades} runout secured the big double up for West and Wilson took a big hit to his chip stack.

Konnikova's Run Ends in 42nd Place

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

We missed the elimination of Maria Konnikova as it happened but she was kind enough to fill us in on some details after the fact.

As she told it, she got short in a big hand against Justin Young. It happened when she raised from early position and Young defended the big blind. The {8-}{6-}{2-} two-club flop saw Young check and Konnikova continued. Young check-raised, Konnikova shoved, and Young called off.

Justin Young: {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Maria Konnikova: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Konnikova had the better flush draw but a three on the river would give Young the win. Konnikova was left short and busted her last 4.5 bb a short time later running {a-}{j-} into {k-}{k-}. Konnikova hit the rail in 42nd place for $15,101.

Rocco Sends Lie Out in 44th Place

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Action folded to the short-stacked Aylar Lie in the small blind and she jammed for roughly 110,000. Michael Rocco was in the big and quickly called.

Aylar Lie: {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Michael Rocco: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Lie was behind but drawing to two live cards. Unfortunately for her, she failed to find any help as the board ran out {3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Lie will take $15,101 back home to Norway.

Crazy Action on Table 23

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Lars Kamphues
Lars Kamphues

As the title says there was some crazy action in back-to-back hands on table 23. In the first hand Lars Kamphues raised to 24,000 from the button, Ron West three-bet to 94,000 from the small blind and Justin Bonomo, who had both players covered, moved all in from his big blind. Kamphues folded, but West made the call and was all in. Both players then smiled once the hands were tabled.

Ron West: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Justin Bonomo: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

The board ran out cleanly, with no one getting four-flushed and the two players chopped the pot.

In the very next hand Robert Fallan, who won his seat in a $400 satellite, raised from the hijack. Kamphues three-bet shoved from the cutoff and Fallan made the call.

Robert Fallan: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Lars Kamphues: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The board ran out {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades}{6-Spades}, which gave Fallan the ace-high flush and sent Kamphues to the rail.

Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

Louis Salter raised to 24,000 from middle position and Minnesota's Ian Matakis three-bet all in for 191,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Salter and he snap-called.

Louis Salter: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Ian Matakis: {8-}{8-}

Matakis was looking for an eight or some other helpful runout, but he didn't get it as the board came {k-}{9-}{9-}{5-}{10-} to send him out the door in 47th place for $13,211.
