Cheong Wins Two in a Row Versus Shorr

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Joseph Cheong and Shannon Shorr
Joseph Cheong and Shannon Shorr

With about 75,000 in the pot and a flop of {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Joseph Cheong check-called a 22,000 bet in the big blind against Shannon Shorr in early position.

On the {6-Diamonds} turn, Cheong led for 40,000 and Shorr called. The {8-Hearts} river saw Cheong check-call a 125,000 bet.

Shorr briefly flashed his cards but turned them back over when Cheong showed {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} which was good for the pot.

On the very next hand, action folded to Cheong in the small blind who raised to 40,000. Shorr defended the big blind.

Both players checked the {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop. On the {q-Diamonds} turn, Cheong led for 65,000 and Shorr called. After the {a-Spades} completed the board, Cheong bet 165,000 and Shorr called.

Similar to the previous hand, Shorr briefly flashed his cards but turned them back over when Cheong showed {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} which was good for the nut straight as he raked in more chips.

With about 500,000 in the pot and a completed board of {j-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{a-Hearts}, Romain Lewis bet 280,000 in the small blind. David Jackson folded in early position and Scott Drobes tanked in the cutoff.

Eventually, Drobes laid down his hand to send the sizable pot to Lewis. Drobes tried his best to get Lewis to reveal his hand, but Lewis just put his cards into the muck and took in the chips.

Plesuv Rockets Into Lead and Eliminates Gathy

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Pavel Plesuv
Pavel Plesuv

A player in middle position jammed in their 120,000 stack and Michael Gathy called in the hijack. Action folded to Pavel Plesuv who jammed, and Gathy called off his remaining 400,000 or so.

Middle Position: {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Michael Gathy: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Pavel Plesuv: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Gathy ran his big slick into rockets and needed help. The {j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop didn't change much, but the {k-Diamonds} turn gave a sliver of hope. With Gathy needing only the case king to survive, the {j-Spades} completed the board to keep Plesuv in front and knock out two players.
