Eveslage Nears a Million in Chips and Leads Wynn Millions Main Event Day 2ab Field

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Chad Eveslage
Chad Eveslage

The first Day 2 of the 2nd annual $10,000 buy-in, $10 million GTD Wynn Millions Main Event as part of 2022 Wynn Millions at Wynn Las Vegas wrapped up Sunday evening and saw the players from the first two starting flight combine and compete. At the end of the day, it was Chad Eveslage who bagged the biggest stack with 939,000 chips heading into Day 3.

Eveslage came into the day with a top-five stack, thanks in part to a huge cooler on Day 1a that vaulted him up the leaderboard. He ran it up today to end with nearly a million in chips and leads the field.

There were 143 players who came into today, and that field was cut by more than half, as only 67 players bagged at the end of Day 2ab. The day ended shorter than expected, with players only playing three levels instead of the planned five. Tomorrow, the players from the third starting flight will return for Day 2c, and those who make it through the day will combine with the rest of the field on Day 3, where players will make it into the money.

The payouts have been announced and 116 players will claim a piece of the $10,105,000 prize pool, with a min-cash being worth $22,029. The eventual winner in this premier Wynn Millions tournament will receive $1,655,952, in addition to the glamorous Main Event trophy. The runner-up will also see a seven-figure score with a cool $1,093,314 consolation prize.

Big stacks at the end of Day 2ab include Joao Simao (754,000), David Miscikowski (731,000), Faraz Jaka (626,000), Sam Soverel (604,000), Ali Imsirovic (566,000), and popular French poker vlogger Johan Guilbert (705,000), who came into the day as the clear chip leader and added some more to his stack.

Philip Shing (402,000) and Salim Admon (263,000) both made the final table in the previous Wynn Millions Main Event and are looking to make another run at it. Some other players who found a bag on Day 2ab were Jonathan Jaffe (379,000), Daniel Lazrus (356,000), Aaron Massey (293,000), Shannon Shorr (277,000), Landon Tice (166,000), and Vanessa Kade (145,000).

Players who were in the field on Day 2ab but didn't make it to bagging time include Daniel Negreanu, Joseph Cheong, Jason Koon, Uri Reichenstein, and Jason Somerville.

The players who survived Day 2ab will return at noon local time on March 8 to battle it out on the felt in Day 3. Before that, action will pick up on March 7 at noon with Day 2c.

Stay tuned as the PokerNews live reporting team will be back tomorrow covering the Day 2c action.

Remember, there are still three PokerGO Tour High Rollers taking place here at the Wynn Millions, all of which count for the 2022 PGT Leaderboard. There will be $10,500 buy-in High Rollers on both March 6 & 7, as well as a $15,700 High Roller on March 8. Click here to see the current PokerGO Tour Leaderboard.

Sullivan Wins Freeroll to Bust Negreanu

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu was seen busting out of the tournament in brutal fashion after getting his stack in with {a-}{q-} on a board of {4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Hearts} against the {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} of Ronald Sullivan.

Sullivan was freerolling as he had a flush draw and Negreanu couldn't fade a heart as the river brought the {6-Hearts} to give Sullivan the flush.

Negreanu Cracks Cowboys

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu opened to 6,500 in middle position and the button three-bet to 17,500 with around 50,000. Negreanu four-bet jammed a bigger stack and his opponent snap-called.

Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Daniel Negreanu: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The flop of {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades} was not what the opponent wanted to see as it gave Negreanu the lead with a pair of aces, and the board finished out {j-Spades}{10-Spades} to send the opponent to the rail.

Koon Left Short; Busts Soon After

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Jason Koon opened to 6,500 in early position, Aaron Massey called the hijack, the small blind called, and Shan Jing called the big blind.

All four players checked the {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Spades} flop to the {7-Hearts} turn. The small blind checked and Jing jammed for 45,000. Koon called and the other two players folded.

Shan Jing: {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Jason Koon: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}

The {10-Clubs} completed the board to miss Koon's draws and leave him with only a couple of big blinds, while Jing collected the pot.

On the next hand, Koon was in the big blind and got the rest of his short stack in against Jing in the small blind.

Jason Koon: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Shan Jing: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

"My initials," Koon said. "Maybe they're lucky."

The dealer spread the {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop to instantly give Koon Broadway.

"Very lucky," he said.

The {7-Clubs} and {3-Diamonds} completed the board to confirm Koon's short-stacked double and keep his tournament life alive temporarily, although he was unable to further run up his stack and was seen exiting the tournament area shortly after.

Amnon Filippi opened to 5,500 in early position and Uri Reichenstein jammed for 57,500 in the cutoff. Action folded back to Filippi who called.

Uri Reichenstein: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Amnon Filippi: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{q-Clubs} and Filippi flopped a pair of kings to win the flip and send Reichenstein to the rail.

Tice Triples; Cheong Eliminated

Level 11 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Landon Tice
Landon Tice

An early position player opened to 5,500 and Landon Tice shoved for 53,000 from one seat over. Andy Park got his chips in from middle position, and Joseph Cheong moved in his 51,000 chips in the hijack, while everyone else folded.

Joseph Cheong: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Landon Tice: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Andy Park: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Park was in good shape for a double knockout, although the {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop provided a lot of possibilities. The {k-Hearts} turn vaulted Tice ahead, and the {q-Hearts} river improved him to a boat, securing the pot, and eliminating Cheong.

Mackelprang Cracks Kings to Knock Out Somerville

Level 11 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Jason Somerville
Jason Somerville

Joey Weissman opened to 5,500 in early position and Dragana Mackelprang three-bet to 16,000 and the next player to act.

The action folded to Jason Somerville on the button, who four-bet all-in for around 79,000. Weissman folded and Mackelprang quickly called with a bigger stack.

Jason Somerville: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Dragana Mackelprang: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Somerville was in great shape to double up with cowboys until the flop came {2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} to give Mackelprang a pair of aces and a flush draw to go with it. The board finished out {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Somerville hit the rail in brutal fashion.

"How'd you hit a flop like that!?" table mate Kenny Nguyen asked Mackelprang. "What'd you eat for breakfast?"

"Nothing yet," she replied. "Maybe that's the trick."
