Mathis Put to Test During Pay Jump

Level 19 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Marty Mathis got involved in a big pot against Tony Tran and regretted his decision when he realized there was a looming pay jump.

The board read {8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Mathis already had most of his chips in the middle when Tran bet to put him all-in for 105,000. Mathis entered the tank thought through a call, which he was hesitant to make as he didn't want to miss the next pay jump.

"I'm normally a fast player, but this is a pickle," Mathis told the table. "This is so sick."

"Did someone here order a water?" asked a cocktail waitress.

"I did," replied Mathis. "I might pour it on myself after this hand."

Mathis ended up folding and told the table he had {k-}{6-}, which was the right move as Tran showed {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a set of fours.

Ugur Secilmis
Ugur Secilmis

Ugur Secilmis got his approximately 155,000 chips in and was at risk against Ian Matakis.

Ugur Secilmis: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Ian Matakis: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop gave Matakis the nut flush and left Secilmis drawing dead as the {5-Hearts} and {10-Hearts} completed the board, as Secilmis made his way to the payout desk to collect $43,028 for his 53rd place finish.

Perry Picks Off Moran's Bluff

Level 19 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Sean Perry
Sean Perry

Sean Perry was seen in the tank as he faced a decision for his tournament life in a heads-up pot against Daniel Moran.

The board read {j-Clubs}{2-Spades}{j-Spades}{q-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Moran jammed to put Perry all-in for around 600,000 with about 500,000 already in the pot.

Perry's eyes darted back and forth between the board and Moran and he shuffled his chips and thought through the hand.

Eventually, Perry put out a stack of chips for a crying call. Moran nodded in defeat and tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} for ace-high, while Perry showed {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} to stay alive and leave Moran with crumbs.

Jesse Sylvia: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Level 19 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Joshua Pollock
Joshua Pollock

Neng Lee opened to 35,000 in early position, Joshua Pollock jammed for 215,000 in middle position, and Tony Sinishtaj called the big blind. Lee thought about it but folded.

Joshua Pollock: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Tony Sinishtaj: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

The board ran out {q-Spades}{j-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Pollock hit the river to keep his tournament life alive.

Lee mentioned he had folded queens, luckily for Pollock, who secured the fortunate double with his set of eights.

Lovgren Gets There to Stay Alive

Level 19 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Sofia Lovgren
Sofia Lovgren

Sofia Lovgren open-shoved a stack of 215,000 from early position and Sean Perry three-bet jammed a much bigger stack from the button, which got the blinds to fold.

Sofia Lovgren: {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Sean Perry: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

It was bad news for Lovgren as she was dominated, though the flop of {5-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{10-Spades} gave her hope with a gutshot straight draw. The {6-Clubs} on the turn didn't change things but the river came the {q-Clubs} to give Lovgren the straight and keep her tournament dreams alive.

"I'm not mad," Perry shrugged as he counted out the chips he owed Lovgren, which hardly dented his stack.

"Very lucky," Lovgren said with a smile.

Paul Ephremsen: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Joey Weissman: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Loosli Picks Up Aces and Eliminates Two

Level 19 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Sylvain Loosli
Sylvain Loosli

Filipp Khavin jammed under the gun for 245,000, Sylvain Loosli called in middle position, and Brandon Lulov mulled over his decision on the button for a minute or two before moving all-in for approximately 970,000. Action folded back to Loosli who snap-called.

Filipp Khavin: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Brandon Lulov: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Sylvain Loosli: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

The board ran out {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades} to keep Loosli in front with his rockets and eliminate Khavin and Lulov in the cooler. Meanwhile, Loosli soars near the top of the leaderboard.

Rheem Pays Off Kempton, Busts Shortly After

Level 19 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem

Chino Rheem was in position in a heads-up pot against Isaac Kempton.

The board read {7-Clubs}{j-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Kempton led out with a bet of 180,000. Rheem called. The river then brought the {2-Clubs} and Kempton moved all-in for 600,000.

"I guess I should just fold," Rheem thought aloud. "I'm losing to ace-seven, I'm losing to ace-jack ... But I kind of want to win a big pot."

Rheem ended up calling and Kempton showed the winner with {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, which out-kicked the {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} of Rheem.

A few hands later, Rheem got to the river against Shawn Daniels on a board of {q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and moved all-in for around 200,000, a move that sent Daniels into the tank.

"Sorry, I have a queen," Daniels told the table.

"You can't fold a queen," goaded Rheem.

"I don't think so, either," Daniels replied.

Daniels made the call and Rheem showed a bluff with {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, which was no good against the {q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} of Daniels.

"You win. Game over," Rheem said as he stood up from his seat and left the tournament area.
