Thivyanathan's Cowboys Take Two Down

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

John Pierce opened the pot with a jam of about 60,000 from middle position. Directly on his left, Vitalijs Zavorotnijs went all in for a little more. That didn't get far as Aaron Thivyanathan shoved from the cutoff for over 200,000 and had them both covered. Cards were on their backs.

Aaron Thivyanathan: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Vitalijs Zavorotnijs: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}
John Pierce: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Thivyanathan liked the {4-}{6-}{6-} flop, leaving his opponents looking for aces. The {j-} turn and {q-Diamonds} river sealed the deal and Thivyanathan eliminated two and grabbed their bounties in the process.

Quintin Tries to Collect Two Bounties But It's Maimone Getting One

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Nick Maimone raised to 20,000 from early position only to have Yudhishter Jaswal three-bet jam for 55,000 from the button. Shea Quintin, who just last week won the MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event, proceeded to four-bet to 154,000 out of the small blind and Maimone responded by five-bet jamming for 439,000. Quintin gave it some thought and then spiked in a call.

Shea Quintin: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Nick Maimone: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Yudhishter Jaswal: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Maimone's two pair with a queen kicker was enough to not only survive Quintin but to also collect Jaswal's bounty.

Maimone redeemed his bounty but drew an envelope containing the minimum $500.

Early Eliminations

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The action has been fast and furious right off the bat, with several dozen people already making their way to the exit in the early stages. These players are among those to fall by the wayside in the first level of the day.

Kampen Busts Two More

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Action started in a three-way preflop all-in battle. Elliott Kampen, Josh Boulton, and Kyle Shigano had all their chips in the middle and Kampen had them both at risk.

Elliott Kampen: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Josh Boulton: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Kyle Shigano: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and kept Kampen in the lead. The turn changed that when the {a-Hearts} hit. However, the {k-Diamonds} brought Kampen back to the lead to eliminate two players and add to his bounty collection.

Sheils Escapes, Eisen Falls

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Two players were all in and at risk over at table 40, with Brandon Sheils covering Brandon Eisen by a hair. Anthony Ibrahim was involved as well and had both players covered by a wide margin.

Brandon Eisen: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Brandon Sheils: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Anthony Ibrahim: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Sheils took out his phone to capture the action and let out a "Oh wow!" after the flop came down {q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}. The {7-Spades} turn and {4-Hearts} river completed the board, giving Sheils the bounty for eliminating Eisen.

Kampen Collects one of the First Bounties

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Action started with cards on their backs as both Elliott Kampen and Ben Miner were all in and Miner was at risk with his 64,000 effective.

Ben Miner: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Elliott Kampen: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The board gave Kampen a set when the {2-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Spades} came out, but Miner still had flush possibilities. The {8-} turn and {q-Clubs} river weren't enough and Kampen collected the early bounty.

"You Needed To Think About That?"

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

In the first hand of the day, Jeff Borris open-shoved his stack of 117,000 from middle position. Jack O'Neill was on the button and asked for a count before calling it off after about thirty seconds. The remaining players got out of the way.

Jeff Borris: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Jack O'Neill: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

"You needed you think about that?" Borris exclaimed. "Does it matter how much money I have?" he said with a slight chuckle.

The dealer fanned out {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} to make Borris the first elimination of the day.
