Lee Takes From Moreno

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

The action folded around to Andrew Moreno on the button who opened for 500 and only Jamie Lee called in the big blind.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and both players checked to the {7-Spades} turn. Lee elected to lead out for 700 and Moreno made the call. On the {4-Diamonds} river play was checked to a showdown.

Lee rolled over {q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for a pair of fives and was good enough to win the pot when Moreno tossed his cards into the muck.

The 2023 Wynn Millions kicked off on February 20 and is slated to run through March 19. While the $3,500 buy-in, $3 million GTD Wynn Millions Main Event is capturing the big headlines, there have been a series of side events playing over the past couple of weeks.

One of those tournaments was the $600 H.O.R.S.E., which drew 92 runners and awarded a $47,380 prize pool to the top 11 finishers. Two players to cash for $1,279 apiece but fall just short of the final table were Svetlana Gromenkova (10th place) and Ke Chen (11th place).

It was the 19th final table appearance in a Wynn tournament by poker pro Ryan Laplante, but amazingly he had never taken home a coveted trophy. That all changed when he closed out the tournament to the tune of $12,401 after a heads-up deal w/ Tony Phan, who claimed $12,400 in prize money.

Laskowitz Coolers Francoeur in the Opening Level

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Louise Francoeur
Louise Francoeur

There were four players who went to a flop of {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and the action checked around to Samuel Laskowitz who bet 1,500. Donny Rubinstein called and Evan Sandberg check-raised to 7,000. Louise Francoeur responded by shoving all in for 39,400.

Laskowitz was in the middle of deciding what to do and Rubinstein quickly attempted to call the clock after just 30 seconds. It was denied and Laskowitz eventually decided to call. Rubinstein and Sandberg both quickly folded and the remaining two hands were tabled.

Louise Francoeur: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Samuel Laskowitz: {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}

Francoeur flopped two pair but was up against a set from Laskowitz. The {8-Spades} on the turn and the {7-Hearts} on the river were no help to Francoeur who was bounced from the tournament.

Coleman Rivers a Straight

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

The action folded to David Coleman on the button who opened for 500 and only Mike Dentale called in the big blind.

The flop fanned out {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and both players checked their options to the {10-Clubs} turn. Dentale took the lead with a bet of 1,000, and without much thought, Coleman tossed in a chip for the call.

The {6-Diamonds} completed the board and Dentale kept up the aggression with a bet of 4,000. Coleman snap-called and the hands were shown. Dentale rolled over {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} for top pair but was no good against the {a-Spades}{8-Hearts} straight for Coleman who scooped the pot.

In a heads-up pot with 8,700 in the middle on a flop showing {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Spades}, Spencer Simpson checked from the small blind to James Romero in the big blind who bet out 6,500. Simpson quickly called and the dealer rolled the {2-Hearts} turn.

Simpson checked a second time and Romero took some time before announcing a bet of 12,000, which Simpson again made the call. On the {j-Hearts} river Simpson elected to move all in, covering the 15,500 remaining for Romero, who quickly called.

Simpson tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for top pair while Romero scored the full double up with {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for a flopped set.

Small Pot for Eskenazi

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Darren Elias opened to 600 in the cutoff and was called by Larry Ormson on the button and Scott Eskenazi in the big blind. The flop fell {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and the action checked to Ormson who tossed in a bet of 600. Eskenazi called and Elias stepped aside.

The turn brought the {8-Spades} and both players checked to the {4-Clubs} on the river. Two more quick checks and Eskenazi turned over {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of tens and Ormson mucked his cards.
