Kathy Liebert Opens Wynn Summer Classic with Seniors Victory
Poker legend Kathy Liebert opened the 2026 Wynn Summer Classic with a victory after taking down the $600 Seniors NLH 50+ event at Wynn Las Vegas.
The tournament, which carried a $50,000 guarantee, drew 179 entries and generated a $92,185 prize pool, with Liebert earning $22,564 for the win. While the score is nowhere near the biggest of her storied career, it marked another milestone for one of poker’s most respected figures and a perfect way for the 58-year-old to begin her summer in Las Vegas.
Liebert has been a fixture in the poker world for more than two decades. The Women in Poker Hall of Famer famously won the inaugural PartyPoker Million in 2002, the first limit poker tournament to award a $1 million top prize, before capturing a WSOP bracelet in the 2004 $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout.
The event also featured several other decorated names in the money. Denis Ethier, winner of the 2005 WSOP $2,000 Seven Card Stud Championship, finished 10th for $1,922. Loyal Sprague, an NAPT Seniors champion and a WSOP Circuit ring winner who also won a seniors title at the 2025 Wynn Fall Classic, matched that payout in 11th place.
Seven-time WSOP bracelet winner and Poker Hall of Fame member Billy Baxter added another cash to his long résumé with a 12th-place finish worth $1,685, while Chiori Gannon, who won the Wynn Summer Classic Seniors Championship in 2023, finished 14th for $1,495.
