A $25 wager is all it took for one lucky guest at a Las Vegas casino to win life-changing money.
The mega jackpot hit at Durango Casino, the newest Station Casinos property on the Southwest side of town. It happened on the Phoenix Cash's Queen Chiu slot machine. While the pull occurred in the high limit room, the player wasn't placing a crazy big wager. In fact, the spin was $25 at $1 denomination, higher than the average gambler bets, but far less than many of the biggest jackpots.
Big Slot Machine Win
The player, whose name wasn't identified in the Durango social media post, won $220,701.20 in a bonus on the popular slot machine. Most of the spaces filled in were of small denominations. Only $775 combined from 15 spots on the board had been collected. But that didn't matter to the gambler because simply by filling up every spot, it triggered a Grand jackpot that had reached nearly $220,000.
The jackpot reset to $200,000 after the big hit. It's unclear just how much longer the jackpot winner would have continued, but they had just $4 left in the machine at the time of the six-figure spin.
Numerous six-figure jackpots have hit recently in Las Vegas. One of those went to popular vlogger Stephen Matt Morrow (aka "Vegas Matt") who hit a $286,000 jackpot at Fountainebleau on another of the Phoenix-themed slot machines. Vegas Matt, who has over 1.6 million YouTube subscribers, also made the news for getting banned from Venetian over a previous $400,000 slot machine win.
Station Casinos such as Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch have seen some big jackpots hit in recent months, most on progressive machines such as the Phoenix themed ones. Durango Casino opened in 2023 and has become a favorite spot among locals on the Southwest side of town. It's a smaller property with a compact casino floor compared to other Station resorts. But there are plenty of machines that give progressive jackpot chasers a shot to win big.
