In the end, it was danilov153 who outplayed and outlasted the rest of the massive field to take down the nearly quarter-million top prize. Here’s how the chip counts stood at the beginning of the final table:

Dusnumbri - 17,458,843
Daniel “Hanamichi23” Chaulet - 14,888,962
morbo1 - 12,207,184
danilov153 - 10,058,802
aprilsfool - 8,029,460
kartalli - 6,593,735
Lenny _1964 - 5,617,156
cardlo69 - 3,049,834
demistocles - 2,366,024

Lenny _1964 was the first player eliminated from the final table, during the 150,000/300,000/30,000 level. From early position, aprilsfool opened the action with a raise to 777,000. Chip leader Dusnumbri reraised to 2,100,000 from the hijack, only to see Lenny _1964 shove from the cutoff for 5,047,156. Action folded back to aprilsfool, who went all in as well. Dusnumbri got out of the way and the hands were revealed to be {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for aprilsfool and {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} for Lenny _1964. The board ran out {J-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} as Lenny _1964 failed to find an ace or king, taking ninth place for $12,441.86.

Demistocles reported to the rail next, at 250,000/500,000/50,000. All in with {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} against kartalli’s {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, the community cards fell {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{K-Clubs}{10-Spades} and demistocles lost the race to go out in eighth place for $18,462.11. Daniel “Hanamichi23” Chaulet said his goodbyes after seeing aprilsfool move all in from the small blind. Chaulet called all in for 6,122,986 from the big blind with {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and found himself well ahead of aprilsfool’s {10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. However, the board came down {2-Hearts}{K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} as aprilsfool made two pair to bust Daniel “Hanamichi23” Chaulet in seventh place for $32,108.01.

On the last hand of the level, cardlo69 bit the dust. From the hijack, aprilsfool raised to 1,333,000 and cardlo69 shipped it in from the cutoff for 7,359,336 with {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. A quick call from aprilsfool with the dominating {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} put cardlo69’s tournament life at risk. The board fell {2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and cardlo69 was the sixth-place finisher for $48,162.01.

At the 400,000/800,000/80,000 level, Dusnumbri was the short stack at the table and was all in with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} against kartalli’s {A-Spades}{K-Spades} and danilov153’s {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. A king hit the flop and Dusnumbri could not catch up, finishing in fifth place for $64,216.01. Kartalli was the next to fall, at the 500,000/1,000,000/100,000 level. A limped pot brought out the flop of {5-Spades}{J-Spades}{7-Spades}. Kartalli led out 6,000,000 into the pot of 3,200,000 and morbo1 folded, but aprilsfool reraised all in. Kartalli called all in for less with {J-Clubs}{8-Spades} and led aprilsfool’s {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}, but the {A-Clubs} on fourth street turned the tables. The {A-Diamonds} hit the river as Kartalli bowed out in fourth place for $80,912.17.

Morbo1 got the hook at 600,000/1,200,000/120,000. A limped pot between the three remaining players brought the flop of {2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}. It was checked by aprilsfool and morbo1 bet 2,400,000, prompting danilov153 to bump it to 9,600,000. Aprilsfool got out of the way, but morbo1 pushed all in for just over 24,000,000. Danilov153 called with {2-Hearts}{2-Spades} and had morbo1’s {J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} in bad shape. The turn was the {4-Spades} as the hand was clinched for danilov153. Morbo1 took third place for $120,405.01.

Heads-up play lasted just four hands. On the button, danilov153 limped and induced an all-in shove from aprilsfool with {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Holding {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, danilov153 made the easy call and clinched the tournament when the board ran out {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. The runner-up showing for aprilsfool paid $176,594.01. Danilov153 was the winner of the PokerStars Sunday Million, good for a payday of $240,810.01
