December's Nor'easter of Poker Events

December is here and there's plenty of poker available in the Northeast for all of you wishing to land an early Christmas present. PokerNews is here to provide you with the lowdown on some great tournament series going on. It's going to be plenty busy in the poker rooms of Connecticut and New Jersey, so if you're in the area, you're definitely going to want to get in on this action.

Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge XVIII

Returning for another go-round at the WPT World Poker Room at Foxwoods is the venue's famed Mega Stack Challenge.. With 104 poker tables and continuous 24-hour action, Foxwoods houses the largest poker room on the East Coast. The Mega Stack Challenge XVIII is set to pack most of that room full for six great events scheduled from December 4-12, 2010. Hosting the event will be 2009 WSOP Main Event runner-up Darvin Moon.

All of these events provide plenty of chips in your starting bank and have guaranteed prize pools. There’s something for all levels of play — buy-ins range from $120 to $1,100. That small $120 buy-in will get you a shot at a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool. The $1,100 Main Event had a guarantee of $100,000 put on it. If the Main Event is a little bit too out of your prize range, there’s also a $230 re-entry event that boasts the same $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. In all, $375,000 is guaranteed and will surely help to draw in the masses.

WSOP Circuit – Harrah’s Atlantic City

The World Series of Poker Circuit has been a great success this year. It’s coming back around and putting it’s name back in the mix as one of the most premier tours in North America. The next stop along the WSOP Circuit is scheduled for Harrah’s Atlantic City.

The events kick off on December 4 and run until December 22. There’s plenty of action with 25 events packed into the schedule, including the $1,650 Main Event and the $10,000 Regional Championship. Atlantic City is a great place for poker and the turnout is always a big one. If you’re looking to get into something big for cheap, there’s plenty of satellites running that can help you do so.

The Borgata December Mini Series

Home to numerous tournament series throughout the year, including the World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open that set the record for largest WPT main event ever in 2010 with 1,042 entrants, theBorgata in Atlantic City is the East Coast’s premier poker venue. It’s also one of the most elite venues for poker in the world.

Adding to its already stout tournament schedule, the Borgata has just announced a new December Mini Series, which will be held December 10-18, 2010. The series consists of 10 events ranging from as low as $200 all the way up to a $1,650 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em. Here’s the complete schedule.

If you’re going to be around Atlantic City during December, it would be a shame if you were to miss out on these events. The staff at the Borgata runs great poker events and the turnouts are always stellar.

Mohegan Sun PCA Satellites

Everyone knows how brutal the Northeast can be in winter. The poker room at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, is trying to do what it can to give a bunch of players some time in the sun. On December 6, 7, 13 and 14, Mohegan Sun is running super satellites to its big $1,650 satellite to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure held on December 19.

The satellite running on Sunday, December 19, has a 10,000-chip starting bank and 30-minute levels. One in every ten will win a package to the 2011 PCA that includes a seat to the Main Event worth $10,300, hotel accommodation valued at $3,478, $1,222 for expenses and $1,000 folio cash.
