DraftKings Team Pro Alvin Zeidenfeld Explains Daily vs. Seasonal Fantasy Drafts

Daily fantasy sports (DFS) have taken the poker community by storm, and there's no better time than now to get involved in all of the action. One of the most exciting events in the industry is the Fantasy Football $2.5 Million King of the Beach, hosted by DraftKings at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort on Dec. 4-8, 2014. Fifty players will be at the contest vying for a chance to claim the top prize of $1 million, and you could very well be one of them.

That said, it's going to take a little bit of work to get yourself into the show, and PokerNews has teamed up with DraftKings to give you some highly-valuable tips on daily fantasy sports and how to to win an entry to the amazing contest.

In this short video, DraftKings Pro Alvin Zeidenfeld shares some of the merits of playing daily fantasy sports versus season-long leagues.

Most people are familiar with the traditional fantasy model of seasonal drafting. At the start of the season a team is drafted and the team owner must keep up with the ebb and flow of the season. Players may be benched or stashed in order to get the most effective result overall. Strategies must evolve as the season moves forward. For the most part however, the fun in the season draft is the actual draft.

In daily fantasy, the fun is in the puzzle. DFS players start with a salary cap and must build their starting team around that salary cap. Everyone has access to the same salaries and the same players. There is less worry about injuries. But the best part about DFS is the camaraderie. Fellow drafters can share in each other's triumphs and razz each other about their defeats all weekend long, the way seasonal drafters do during the actual draft day. Drafters encourage each other and root for each other, because on any given day, it could be them heading to the top. And when a player doesn't win, he knows he can try again tomorrow!
