Schedule Announced for Remainder of Latin American Poker Tour Season 8

Latin American Poker Tour

Season 8 of the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) kicked off earlier this month with the $3,000 buy-in LAPT Bahamas Main Event, which ran in conjunction with the 12th annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and saw Josh Kay best Martin Finger in heads-up play to top a field of 736 entrants and win a $367,928 first-place prize. Now, PokerStars has announced the remaining stops on Latin America’s richest poker tour.

"We are very excited about the new LAPT season. It has many new introductions, thrilling destinations and hardcore poker formats, which are set to bring bumper fields and richer prize pools," said PCA & LATAM Director of Live Operations David Carrion. "Kicking off at PCA was fantastic and we are looking forward to a game-changing year in the history of LAPT."

Each stop will see the Main Event buy-in increase to at least $2,500 while offering unlimited reentries. Season 8 is also primed to host tournaments of other poker variants including pot-limit Omaha and mixed games.

The next stop on the LAPT Season 8 schedule is at the Enjoy Casino in Vina del Mar, Chile from March 6-19, which will be followed by the LAPT Panama at the Veneto Hotel & Casino in Panama City from May 8-12. Two months later, the LAPT will visit the Atlantic City Casino in Lima, Peru for the LAPT Peru from July 10-14.

Additionally, after being away for a year, the LAPT will return to Punta del Este in Uruguay from September 18-22, 2015, albeit it at a new venue — Conrad Resort and Casino. It will be followed by the season-ending LAPT Grand Final and BSOP Millions in Sao Paulo – an event that will become the biggest ever live poker festival in Central and South America – from Nov. 24 through Dec. 2.

"PokerStars live events across the world offer the most diverse selection of different poker variants around," Carrion continued. "In Latin America, it is a challenge to cater for players fond of the less popular types, however this is something we are determined to do and are proud to introduce strong formats this season. With more variety available, we aim to attract more grinders, recreational and all-round players who can see higher EV with these options."
