While the biggest online tournament festival thus far this year wraps up on PokerStars, also running was a big series at the world's second largest online poker room, 888poker. That event is the exciting fifth edition of the Super XL Series.

The latest installment features 40 action-packed tournaments from May 14-22 with $3 million in guaranteed prize pools. This represents two more events than the 38 tournaments the series had a few months ago, along with $1 million more in combined guaranteed prize pools.

Here is a look at some of the bigger winners of the festival:

Sweden's Tobias "bale_11" Garp was the first player to make huge waves in poker festival by outlasting a field of 911 players to pony up the $88 buy-in in the Super XL 1 — $88,888 Crazy 8 Super XL Kickoff on May 14 to claim the top prize of $22,984. The tournament was themed around the 2016 World Series of Poker Event #54: $888 Crazy Eights by showcasing the exact same structure. In addition to Garp grabbing the lion's share of the prize pool, he walked away with a $3,000 WSOP package that includes an entry to the aforementioned event.

A number of huge tournaments followed on Sunday, May 15. To start things off, Canada's "jewelrunna" and Sweden's "klimpen_2" both scored big after agreeing to a heads-up deal in the $215 Super XL 4 — $150,000 Mega Deep, where the former walked away with $33,787 and the latter $31,819.

In an even bigger tournament later in the day, Germany's "ncqqqqqq" won a huge $56,725 after finishing on top of a 1,556-player field in the $160 Super XL 5 — $250,000 Opening Event Multi Chance. The Netherlands' "InJeBakkes" also should have walked away happy with his runner-up performance in this tournament worth $40,369.

Also on May 15, high rollers battled it out in the $600 Super XL 7 — $200,000 Whale. Canada's Sebastian "p000cket000" Sikorski added to his over $9 million in online tournament cashes, as tracked by PocketFives.com, where he was formerly ranked the No. 1 player in the world on six separate occasions from 2011 to 2014. He took down the event to claim $43,134 as part of a three-way deal. Also cashing big as part of the deal was Italian poker player living in Malta Enrico "HateH4teHate" Camosci, taking second place for $38,539, and Finland's "Fabahaba", snagging third place for $38,309.

Tuesday, May 17 was also a big day in the series with two of the three scheduled tournaments guaranteeing six-digit prize pools. In the $2,100 Super XL 15 — $400,000 High Roller Event United Kingdom's "eat1ngandwin" became the biggest winner of the poker festival so far with an impressive haul of $117,261 for his first-place finish.

Representing Brazil on the same day, Rafael "keybr" Watanabe do Prado claimed victory in the $215 Super XL 16 — $100,000 Mini High Roller Event for the top prize of $30,372.

A couple of days later, Canada's "Nordynordbrg" joined the ranks of players with big wins this series by finishing on top of the $215 Super XL 26 — $75,000 Quarterback Event for $28,307.
