Ontario Poker News April Update: Get Ready for the WSOP Circuit Toronto; Big ONSCOOP Winners

I'm Kyle Anderson, PokerNews ambassador and Ontario resident. Here is an update on everything that's both happened and is coming up in the Ontario poker world.

Remember, ON players can legally play real money poker in Ontario, so PokerNews has come up with a list of the very best online poker sites in the Canadian province. Access real poker sites and play different games with poker players within the state.

What are the big issues and stories on everyone's minds? Let’s get into it.

Live Poker News

In live poker news, the big story is that the WSOP Circuit Toronto is happening from April 10-22. There are 11 rings to be won, and I'm going to go into some important details about the series.

First, each tournament can hold up to 540 people max. If you do not have a seat and want to register, you must wait as an alternate. An alternate is someone who gets a seat once it becomes free under the 540-player cap. It is first come, first serve.

The rake for the tournament sits around 11% to as high as 20%, depending on what games you're playing. All the events are reentry, so you can reenter if you bust.

Secondly, registration details have been announced. The Great Canadian Casino offered online registration from March 25-31, and now in-person registration is available.

In other live poker news, Casino Niagara is hosting its Spring Main Event on April 22nd to either the 24th or 25th, depending on if an extra day is needed. It is a $1,000 buy-in, and I highly recommend it for those interested in live poker tournaments as they do a great job over there. It's a very smooth process and the prize pools are always big.

In online poker news, PokerStars Ontario is running its own SCOOP series. The Ontario Spring Championship of Online Poker (ONSCOOP) is one of the biggest online poker series each year. It started on March 21 and will run through April 7. There is more than $2.25 million guaranteed in the series over 44 events, all at at low, medium, and high buy-ins.

There is a $300 buy-in, $200,000 guarantee Main Event that begins this Sunday, April 6th. If you're interested in watching some on SCOOP action, do check out Team PokerStars member Arlie Shaban and his Twitch channel.

Meanwhile GGPoker’s WSOP Ontario finished up their WSOP Circuit Series. The online $525 buy-in, $300K GTD Main Event concluded on March 31st, but don’t worry, there is still great value to be had as the site is still hosting $50 satellites to get into the WSOP Circuit Toronto Main Event. This might be the best way for you to get in for very cheap.
