Vivian Saliba

Brazil's Vivian Saliba is one of several 888poker ambassadors currently playing at the 888poker LIVE London festival. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner came into the London series in good form, having narrowly missed out on capturing a WSOP Circuit ring in Slovakia in August, finishing second to Karel Kratochvil in the €600 No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha Mix event.

Saliba was one of 105 entrants in the £550 Big Shot at 888poker LIVE London, a tournament many will have seen as the perfect warm-up for the £1,250 buy-in, £250,000 guaranteed Main Event that starts on September 11.

Everything went right for Saliba, who came out on top and turned her £550 investment into £12,135 after a heads-up deal with Stephen Bean (£10,135), the man who recently won the Crazy 8 Opening Event.

The tournament paid the top 15 finishers. Johnny Kelly, the 2023 PokerNews Cup champion, and Saliba's teammate Ian Simpson were among those who cashed but fell short of a final table appearance.

Saliba eventually came out on top and registered her sixth live victory and banked her 24th live score worth five figures or more.

Amazingly, Saliba has since forged a substantial chip lead for herself in the £1,650 High Roller. The Brazilian ended Day 1 with 981,000 chips, some 295,000 more than Ian Simpson (686,000) in second place. Only 38 of the 100 starters progressed to Day 2.

Michael Rosaman Continues Purple Patch With Mini Main Victory

Michael Rosaman

Regular readers of PokerNews may remember an article where we mentioned Michael Rosaman taking down the £250 Mini Main at the recent GUKPT Luton festival. Rosaman netted £31,730 for that win before helping himself to another £7,230 for a third-place finish in the £550 GUKPT Cup a few days later.

Like Saliba, Rosaman seems to be enjoying a purple patch of form right now, and last night won the £330 Mini Main at 888poker LIVE London for £26,650.

A field of 4335 entrants created a £123,970 prize pool that the top 56 finishers shared. Daniel Rudd, Kevin Allen, Gordon Huntly, Mariusz Czech, and National Poker League leader Thomas Clack each saw a return on their investments.

Rosaman navigated to heads-up, where Billy Irvine lay in wait. Irvine recently netted a career-best £19,190 at the British Poker Series in London, so he was full of confidence going into the clash. However, Rosaman emerged a worthy champion, claiming the £26,650 and resigning Irvine to a £17,720 consolation prize.
