WPT World Championship

The World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship Series will once again return to Wynn Las Vegas in 2025, running from December 2–22. Announced on Monday, September 8, the series features a full schedule packed with mixed games, seniors and ladies events, and plenty of satellites. Buy-ins will range from $600 to $25,800, with the highlight once again being the prestigious $10,400 WPT World Championship.

WPT Championship

The main attraction of the series is the WPT World Championship, a $10,400 buy-in event in which winners from WPT Championship stops throughout the year will earn a seat. The tournament runs from December 13–21 and features three Day 1 starting flights. Survivors will combine for Day 2, with play continuing until the final table is reached on December 21. The remaining contenders will then battle it out on a live-streamed televised final table.

Last year, Scott Stewart took him the top prize of $2,563,900 after topping a field of 2,392 entries to claim the WPT World Championship.

WPT Prime Championship

Another marquee event of the WPT World Championship Series is the WPT Prime Championship, which carries a $1,100 buy-in and a massive $5 million guaranteed prize pool. The tournament kicks off on Sunday, December 7, with the first of four Day 1 flights. Action will play down to a final table after Day 3 on December 12, before the remaining players return on December 20 to compete on a live-streamed final table.

Last year’s WPT Prime Championship drew 9,670 entries and saw Zak VanKeuren claim the top prize of $1,162,350 after defeating Jim Casement heads-up.

Ladies and Seniors Championship

The WPT will also host dedicated Ladies and Seniors World Championship events. The two-day Ladies NLH Championship kicks off on December 13, featuring a $1,100 buy-in and a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool. This is followed by the three-day Seniors NLH Championship, beginning on December 18, with a $1,100 buy-in and a $500,000 guarantee. Additionally, a $10,000 Seniors High Roller, also with a $500,000 guarantee, will take place over three days starting on December 20.

PLO and Mixed Games

For those seeking alternatives to NLH, the WPT World Championship will offer a variety of options. Multiple Omaha variant tournaments will take place throughout the series, running from the opening day on December 8 through December 21. There will also be various mixed game tournaments, including the $1,6000 H.O.R.S.E and T.O.R.S.E Championships, with the H.O.R.S.E taking place December 17th, and the T.O.R.S.E the 18th.

High Rollers and High-Value Events

The WPT series will feature its largest buy-in event on December 18: a two-day $25,800 NLH tournament. But players looking for value won’t be disappointed, as the series also includes several smaller buy-in events offering $1,000,000+ guaranteed prize pools.

Kicking off on the first day of the series, the $800 NLH event will feature the first two of six Day 1 flights, with two additional flights over the following days, and a guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000. Another standout event is the $1,100 NLH, starting on December 16, which will run two Day 1 flights on December 16 and 17, with a guaranteed prize pool of $2,000,000.
