There has been no shortage of poker action in Australia as of late, most recently with the successful return of the Aussie Millions earlier this month. Now, the Land Down Under is gearing up for the World Poker Tour (WPT) Australia festival taking place Sept. 10-30.

The festival at The Star Sydney will culminate with the AUD $5,000 buy-in WPT Australia Championship and will also include the AUD $1,500 WPT Prime Australia Championship, as well as several side events.

The WPT Prime Australia Championship will kick things off as it runs Sept. 17-22 before the WPT Australia Championship running from Sept. 24-30. Both events will be live-streamed on the WPT YouTube channel.

In addition to the two Main Events, the festival will feature a AUD $500 Ladies Australian Championship taking place Sept. 15-16. The full schedule, which has yet to be released, will also feature an array of No-Limit Hold'em, Omaha and bounty tournaments.

“We are thrilled to return to The Star Sydney for another WPT Australia festival,” WPT CEO Adam Pliska said in a press release. “Australia continues to be one of the world’s most passionate poker regions, and we look forward to welcoming players from around the globe as we crown the next WPT Champion.”

Last year's WPT Australia Main Event drew 600 runners for a prize pool of $1,961,000 USD as Alan Pham defeated Jordan Bautista to win $364,958, a six-figure victory that pushed the Australian over a million in live earnings.

"It feels surreal, it feels like a dream!" Pham told WPT anchor Lynn Gilmartin after winning the WPT title.
