Table Of Contents
The WPT Rolling Thunder festival is in full swing at Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, with action continuing daily through April 1 and a packed schedule already producing plenty of winners.
Nine champions have already been crowned, with the biggest prize so far going to Matthew Patterson, who topped the massive 1,165-entry field in the $600 Launch (Event #4) to collect $62,795. The result stands as the largest payout awarded at the festival to date.
Patterson Pulls Off a Breakthrough Win
Patterson entered the series with only a handful of recorded cashes, primarily in lower buy-in events, but found his rhythm in one of the largest fields of the festival.
His victory accounts for the majority of his $67,708 in total live earnings, according to The Hendon Mob, and instantly places him among the standout performers of the series so far.
There have also been strong results from women players in the early stages of the festival. Angela Liu captured the $300 No Limit Hold'em (Event #7) after defeating an 88-entry field to earn $6,065.
Christina Ouyang-Hung followed that performance with a win in the $500 Limit Omaha 8 or Better (Event #8), banking $9,135 after outlasting 68 entrants.
