British grinder Christopher "MAKKAPAKKK" Johnson is the latest 888poker player to take down the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event. Johnson left 941 opponents in his wake as he got his hands on $10,084 of the $100,000 prize pool.

Day 1, which took place on December 14, saw the 942-strong crowd whittled to the eight-handed final table. 888poker ambassadors Ian "Simpioni" Simpson and Josh "Josh_Manley" Manley were among the starters but couldn't get anything going. Aaron "abarone" Barone, on the other hand, finished 64th for $894, including bounties.

Unlike last week, the $10,000 mystery bounty was claimed before the final table was reached. "Bountyhunt1" of Canada, who fired nine $109 bullets, fell in 106th for $110 but not before opening a $140 and the jackpot $10,000 mystery bounty envelope.

Andorra's "Rubka12" reached the final table with a monster stack worth 131 big blinds. That stack was more than one-third of the chips in play, and it felt like they had one hand on the title. Canada's "jrbode08" brought up the rear with only one big blind at their disposal.

Unsurprisingly, "jrbode08" was the first player to bust from the final table. They more than doubled up on the first hand, but any hopes of an epic comeback were soon off the table. They were eventually forced all-in with ten-seven, which ultimately lost to the ace-king of "vitaliy_bud."

"vitaliy_bud" was the next eliminated player despite winning that hand and boosting their stack to 15 big blinds. They came unstuck when Johnson min-raised on the button, then called the 16 big blind three-bet all in from "vitaliy_bud." Johnson tuned over ace-jack of hearts, "vitaliy_bud" the king-nine of clubs, and an ace on the flop sent the at-risk player to the rail.

The final six became five when Germany's "PICR88" ran out of steam. "PICR88" jammed just over five big blinds from the button with ace-ten, and "Saxomanden" called with pocket fours in the big blind. Those fours held, and "PICR88" was gone.

Pocket fours won another coin flip to reduce the player count again. "LRigos94" min-raised in the cutoff with ace-king before calling off the 22 big blinds they had behind when "Rybka12" three-bet all-in from the big blind with pocket fours. An ace on the flop improved "LRigos94" to the best hand, but a four on the turn left them drawing dead.

That hand propelled "Rybka12" back to the top of the chip counts by 20 big blinds, yet they were still the next player out of the door. They lost a chunk of their stack when their king-queen turned two pair only to run into the flopped set of "Saxomanden."

The same player sent "Rybka12" to the sidelines. "rudwolf7777" min-raised from the cutoff with ace-seven, "Rybka12" three-bet all-in for 30 big blinds with pocket tens on the button, only for "Saxomanden" to wake up with pocket kings in the small blind. "Saxomanden" called the shove, "rudwolf7777" folded, and those kings flopped a set to leave only three players in the hunt for the title.

Armenia's "rudwolf7777" was the third-place finisher; they crashed out at the hands of Johnson. Johnson set "rudwolf7777" all-in for their last 12 big blinds, doing so with five-three of clubs. "rudwolf7777" held pocket kings and snap-called, only for a five and a three to land on the flop.

Johnson held a 131 big blinds to the 10 of "Saxomanden," and a player of Johnson's quality does not let such a massive advantage slip. "Saxonmanden" ran hot in the early stages of the heads-up clash, doubling twice, but the night belonged to Johnson.

The final hand saw Johnson min-raise with pocket eights, "Saxonmanden" three-bet to six big blinds with ace-five of hearts, and Johnson jam all-in. "Saxonmanden" called off the 57 big blinds he had behind, and the fate of both players lay in the hands of the poker gods. A king-high board failed to melt Johnson's snowmen, and he became an 888poker champion.
