PokerNews is excited to introduce the PokerNews PowerStack Leaderboard, a new season-long competition offering meaningful prizes for players as part of our extended partnership with the RunGood Poker Series.

RGPS heads into 2026 as a three-time winner of the Best Mid-Major Poker Tour GPI award, and the PowerStack Leaderboard is designed to reflect the same loyalty, competitiveness, and player-first spirit that has made the tour so successful.

A Season-Long Race With Real Stakes

The PokerNews PowerStack Leaderboard will run across the entire 2026 RGPS Passport Season, with a dedicated PokerNews PowerStack event taking place at every RGPS stop.

The PowerStack gives players another reason to keep firing, another target to chase, and a way to turn a season-long grind into something meaningful. Points will be awarded using a RGPS points formula.

When the Passport Season wraps up, the top ten players on the PokerNews PowerStack Leaderboard will each earn a $1,100 seat to the RGPS Passport Thunder Valley Main Event, along with two nights of accommodation, running July 16 to August 2 at Casino Lincoln.

The leaderboard officially gets underway at RGPS Tulsa, and it does so with one of the standout events on the opening stop’s schedule. The PokerNews PowerStack Ring Event features a $400 buy-in and a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool, underlining just how serious this new promotion is from the very start.

The event offers a 25,000 starting stack and two starting flights on January 21. The top 12.5% from each flight return on January 22 to play down to a winner and an RGPS ring. So be sure to use this opportunity to get an early foothold in the PowerStack Leaderboard race.

How Coverage Will Work

PokerNews will publish chip counts and results at the end of each day of play, or once an event concludes if it’s a one-day tournament. Leaderboard standings will be updated within 72 hours of points appearing in the Tournament Hub Manager system, making it easy for players to track where they stand as the season unfolds.

Shirley Ang, Senior Global Live Events Manager at PokerNews, sees the PowerStack Leaderboard as a natural extension of what RGPS already does well.

“RGPS has one of the most engaged and loyal player communities in poker,” said Ang. “The PokerNews PowerStack Leaderboard gives those players another shared storyline to follow throughout the season, especially for those who still want something meaningful to compete for outside of the Player of the Year race.”

RGPS CEO Tana Karn echoed that sentiment, emphasizing how the new competition fits into the tour’s broader vision.

“RGPS has always been about creating meaningful experiences for everyday players,” Karn said. “This is about rewarding consistency, strengthening our partnership with PokerNews, and continuing to elevate the player experience at the highest level of the tour with our season finale $1,000,000 guaranteed event at Thunder Valley Casino.”
