WSOPC Marrakech Breaks Record as Largest Stop Ever Outside The Americas

The 11th edition of the WSOP Circuit Marrakech has been confirmed as a record-breaker, with huge fields across the festival making it the largest WSOPC stop ever held outside the Americas.
The series, which ran at the legendary Casino de Marrakech from January 16 to 25, saw strong attendance throughout, most notably in the 16,000 MAD Main Event, which drew a record 1,694 entries and generated an enormous €2.14 million prize pool.
Those figures confirm WSOPC Marrakech as one of the standout early-year stops on the global poker calendar, while underlining Morocco’s growing popularity as an international poker destination.
Monster Main Event One of Many Highlights
When the dust settled after nine days of action, it was Switzerland’s Sandro Carucci who walked away with the festival’s top honors, claiming his maiden WSOPC ring after outlasting a massive Main Event field of 1,694 runners.
Carucci, also a high school teacher, took home €280,000 for the victory, the lion’s share of the €2.14 million prize pool—plenty for some new pencils and notebooks back in the classroom.
Meanwhile, the record-breaking numbers didn’t stop at the Main Event. The 7,000 MAD Mini Main Event and 25,000 MAD High Roller both shattered previous benchmarks, generating prize pools of €600,000 and €715,000 respectively, while the 4,500 MAD Opener drew nearly 900 entries through the halls of the Es Saadi Marrakech Resort.
In total, €5.7 million was paid out to players, setting a new all-time record for the Casino de Marrakech.
International Field Flocks to Morocco
Alongside the record prize pools, organizers have also confirmed a 10% increase in overall attendance at the festival, with an increasingly international complexion to the tournament fields.
Despite higher buy-ins, the events attracted players from across Europe and beyond, including Spain, Poland, Switzerland, France, the UK, the US, and Morocco, contributing to the unprecedented numbers.
The Es Saadi Marrakech Resort has a long history of hosting international poker events, with 66 festivals held at the casino over the past two decades. It has built a strong reputation among players thanks to its on-site amenities (including hotel & restaurants) and comfortable, well-organized poker room.
Marrakech Poker Open (MPO) Up Next
Players looking to return to Morocco for more poker won’t have long to wait, as the Casino de Marrakech opens its doors again next month for the Marrakech Poker Open (MPO), running from March 24 to 29.
Organizers have confirmed that full details, including the tournament schedule and buy-ins, will be announced shortly.
