Potomac Summer Poker Open Returns With $1.5M GTD at MGM National Harbor
The Potomac Summer Poker Open is back at MGM National Harbor from August 5-17, bringing 13 days of tournament action and more than $1.5 million in guaranteed prize pools across a 23-event schedule.
Powered by BetMGM Poker, the series has a collection of mixed-game offerings, bounty tournaments and a $3,000 Main Event, as players from across the Mid-Atlantic and beyond compete for trophies.
PokerNews will once again be on-site throughout the series, with live reporting beginning on Day 2 of the $600 NLH Opener on August 9, followed by Day 2 of the $500 Monumental Stack event. The team will then provide wall-to-wall live coverage of the $3,000 Main Event, which runs from August 14-17. There will also be a daily tournament highlights blog throughout the festival.
Potomac Summer Poker Open Full Schedule
The main attraction of the series is the $3,000 Main Event, which boasts a $750,000 guaranteed prize pool and features two starting flights on August 14 and 15 before combining for Day 2 on August 16. The champion will be crowned at the final table on August 17.
Before then, players will have plenty of opportunities to build momentum. The series opens with the $600 NLH Opener, a seven-flight event carrying a $500,000 guarantee, while the $500 Monumental Stacks promises another six-figure prize pool with a $100,000 guarantee.
Mixed-game specialists also have plenty to look forward to, with events including TORSE, Mixed PLO, 8-Game Mix, PLO 8 and Big O, while bounty fans can take aim at tournaments such as the Double Board PLO Bomb Pot, 5-Card PLO Bounty and Cakes Classic Bounty NLH.
Players chasing a seat in the Main Event will have multiple chances to qualify through a series of Main Event Super Satellites running throughout the festival, each guaranteeing five seats.
Anderson Returns as Defending Champion
Last year's Potomac Poker Open Main Event attracted 377 entries, generating a $1,017,900 prize pool.
After four days of action, Robert Anderson emerged victorious to claim the title and the $211,915 top prize, defeating Lucas Vergara heads-up.
