Graton Resort & Casino is the place to be if you're a tournament poker player starting Aug. 20.
The card room in Rohnert Park, California will host the NorCal Poker Championships put on by the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS). There are 19 trophy events over 11 days, which includes live reporting coverage of the Main Event from PokerNews.
Series Highlights
When play begins on the 20th, tournament grinders and recreational players will all flock to one of the NorCal's top poker rooms. The first event of the series is the $250 Series Opener, a No-Limit Hold'em tournament. Cards will be in the air at 11 a.m. sharp.
If you bust that event early or can't make it to the casino before 5 p.m., there's a second event on the first day, and that is Day 1a of the $400 PokerNews Power Stack, which features a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool. There will be four additional starting flights over the next two days, two per day. Day 2, the finale, will run on Aug. 23 at 11 a.m.
There are some interesting unconventional events on the schedule to mix things up a bit, such as the $300 ($150 per player) PLO/NLH event on Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. Find a partner who knows how to play both PLO and NLH.
If you're a fan of all things Omaha (not the city), you'll enjoy the $200 Double Board Bomb Pot PLO on Aug. 24 and the Mixed PLO (Big O / PLO / PLO8) on Aug. 26. This isn't a series just for the NLH lovers, but it is a series that the NLH lovers will love.
Speaking of NLH, the biggest event on the schedule, and this one will be live reported by PokerNews from start to finish, is the $1,100 NorCal Championship Event. The tournament begins Aug. 28 with Day 1a bright and early at 10 a.m., followed by the Day 1b session at 5 p.m. Days 1c and 1d will run at the same time on the following day. All players who bag a stack will return to Graton on Aug. 30 at noon to play it down to a winner.
