Tournament poker players in the Bluegrass State have a major event on the horizon.
The RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) Golden Expedition is coming to The Barrel Social Club in Franklin, Kentucky. Play kicks off on Sept. 1, with the series concluding Sept. 7 with the Main Event final table, a tournament that will be live reported right here at PokerNews.
What to Look For in Kentucky
Kentucky, much like Texas, operates under different gambling laws than most other states. As such, the brick-and-mortar casino model is non-existent in the state. Instead, rooms such as The Barrel Social Club serve as social clubs where players pay membership and seat fees in place of rake.
Before entering an RGPS event, players must join the club, which can be done for as little as $10 per day. Or, you can obtain a monthly membership. It's a simple and quick process, and you can get it all done right when you arrive.
With that out of the way, it's time to talk about the fun part, and that is the poker. There are 11 ring events on the schedule across seven days, starting with a $300 Seniors (50+) on Sept. 1. The second ring event begins the following day with the $400 PokerNews PowerStack, a $30,000 guaranteed tournament. Those who cash will earn 2026 PokerNews PowerStack Leaderboard points. This event has two Day 1 starting flights, and the finale is set for Sept. 3.
There are many other big events to follow, such as $400 Pot-Limit Omaha with $25,000 guaranteed on Sept. 3 or the $400 Labor Day Black Chip Bounty on Sept. 7, the final day of the series.
The Main Event is the biggest highlight of the upcoming Kentucky series, and it features a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool for just $800. Days 1a and 1b run on Sept. 4, with 1c and 1d on Sept. 5, and 1e and 1f on Sept. 6. Final table action takes place on Sept. 7 to close out the RGPS Golden Expedition.
