Phil Hellmuth's Champions Club Texas Giving Away $150K in Prizes
Table Of Contents
Players at Champions Club Texas have 150,000 reasons to spend some extra time at the poker tables over the coming months, with the Houston card room running a $150,000 promotion that gives cash game and tournament players the chance to win big without having to take down a tournament.
The club, co-owned by 17-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, launched its Rebirth of Champions promotion on October 1, with prizes being awarded through January 16, 2027.
There are two parts to the promotion. First up is the Royal Champion Jackpot, which offers two daily drawings and progressive prizes that grow when nobody claims them. Then, in January, the club will wrap things up with its $100,000 Rebirth Finale, where players can turn the hours they've spent at the tables into a shot at mystery prizes.
The promotion follows the recent appointment of Mike Traylor as Poker Director, who told PokerNews in October that he wanted to make Champions Club just as appealing to everyday cash game players as it already is to tournament regulars.
Two Daily Chances to Win the Royal Champion Jackpot
The Royal Champion Jackpot accounts for $50,000 of the promotion's advertised prize total, with two daily sessions giving players opportunities to earn entries into a drawing.
The morning session runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the evening session takes place between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. At the end of each session, one player is selected to choose a sealed card from the Royal Champion display.
Hidden somewhere on the board is the Royal Champion card, which awards the progressive jackpot. Other cards contain cash and promotional prizes, meaning players could still walk away with something even if they don't uncover the main prize.
Each morning and evening jackpot begins at $2,500 and increases by $200 whenever the Royal Champion isn't found. Once claimed, the jackpot resets to $2,500, with the promotion advertising a potential jackpot of up to $25,000.
Players can earn up to 14 entries per session, with bonuses available for arriving on time and staying for the full four hours.
| How to Earn Entries | Entries |
|---|---|
| Start the session on time* | 5 |
| Play all four hours | 4 |
| Stay for the full session | 5 |
| Maximum per session | 14 |
Players must complete at least one full hour to qualify for the start-time bonus.
With two sessions each day, players can collect as many as 28 entries daily. They must be present and actively playing when the drawing takes place, and entries reset after each drawing.
$100,000 Rebirth Finale Awaits in January
The Royal Champion drawings aren't the only reason to get involved, as Champions Club has another $100,000 in mystery prizes lined up for the final weekend of the promotion.
The Rebirth Finale takes place January 15-16, with $50,000 in prizes available on each day. Players can begin collecting entries now, with the qualifying period running through January 14.
Unlike the daily Royal Champion drawings, which reward players for taking part in specific sessions, the finale gives players a longer window to build up their entries through regular cash game play and tournament participation.
| How to Earn Finale Entries | Entries |
|---|---|
| Every full hour of cash game play | 1 |
| Every tournament entry | 1 |
| Cash game session lasting four or more hours | 5 bonus entries |
There's also some good news for players who have already been taking part in the Royal Champion promotion. Their previous hourly cash game entries count towards the Rebirth Finale, so time spent playing since the October 1 launch can contribute towards January's prize drawings.
Part of a New Era at Champions Club Texas
The Rebirth of Champions promotion comes at an exciting time for the Houston poker room, which has been making changes under its new Poker Director.
Traylor joined Champions Club earlier this year after previously serving as General Manager at Texas Card House Spring. Last Month, he explained to PokerNews that one of his biggest priorities was attracting a wider range of players to the club.
While Champions Club has built a strong reputation for tournament poker, including hosting the RunGood Poker Series, Traylor wants recreational players to feel just as comfortable dropping in for a cash game.
"The average recreational player doesn't see us as the club for the 'leisurely player,'" Traylor explained, adding that his vision was to reintroduce Champions Club as a destination for players of all skill levels and stakes.
