WSOP Day 9 Fantasy Sweats
After Day 8 of the World Series, Daniel Negreanu came up just short on his 8th World Series of Poker Bracelet, but Brad Ruban did claim his fifth WSOP bracelet for Team NOVIG. Here are the sweats for Day Nine at the WSOP.
Event #14: $25,000 High Roller PLO/NLH Mixed
A new addition to the WSOP schedule drew many of the game’s top players, and the superstar-packed field delivered plenty of fantasy drama. Heading into the final day, just 17 players remain—six of them 25K Fantasy draftees. Michael Moncek (Team Survivor Sweat) sits second in chips, followed by Ben Lamb (Team Money Mondays) in fourth, and Nick Schulman (Team Splash Sports) in fifth.
Further down the leaderboard is Arthur Morris (AJ's Eagles), Eric Wasserson (Wass), and Shaun Deeb (Team Phenom). The remaining players have all locked up 12 points, with a victory in this event being worth 127, as the event is expected to play down to a winner today.
Event #15: $1,500 Mixed: Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better
Benny Glaser (Team Dinkers), fresh off winning his sixth WSOP bracelet, is back in the mix just days later. He enters Day 3 second in chips with only 25 players remaining.
Also still in the field are Thomas Taylor (Team Liaison), Tyler Brown (Team Negreanu), and Patrick Leonard (Team Girl Dads)—all of whom sit inside the top 10 in chips. Each has already locked up 13 points, with 87 points awaiting today’s winner.
Event #18: $10,000 Dealers Choice 6-Handed Championship
Day 2 of this prestigious event resumes on Day 9 of the WSOP and, as expected, features many of the game’s elite—along with a strong fantasy presence. Seven of the top ten players in the chip counts are 25K Fantasy draftees, with several more scattered throughout the 62-player field. With late registration open through the first level of play, additional fantasy contenders are expected to join the action.
Event #16: $600 Pot-Limit Omaha Deepstack
Of the 108 players returning for Day 2, only two of them are 25K players. Those players are John Riordan (Team Splashy Octopi) and Josh Arieh (Team Jeremy's).
Event #17: $2,000 No-Limit Holdem
This event drew 1,692 entries and returns for Day 2 with 264 players—just ten spots away from the money. Notable names near the top of the chip counts include Jesse Lonis (Team Girl Dads), who sits third overall, along with Ali Eslami (Team Survivor Sweat), Ethan Yau (Team Girl Dads), and Chris Brewer (Team NOVIG).
