James Millman Eliminates a Player

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The cards were on their backs between James Millman and another player who had gotten it in preflop with Millman holding {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} against his opponent's {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

The flop gave his opponent a set, coming {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. The turn was the {q-Clubs} but the table gasped as the river was the {k-Hearts} giving Millman a bigger set and eliminating his opponent.

David Newlove Makes a Courageous Call

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The player in middle position limped before David Newlove raised to 2,000 from the button. The blinds called as did the original limper.

The flop came {k-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} and all four players checked. The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and it checked to the limber who bet 5,000. Newlove was the only caller.

The river was the {9-Hearts} and the limper led for 11,000 and Newlove went into the tank.

His hand alternated from his chipstack to his cards, even picking them up as if to fold only to switch back to his chip stack. In the end, he hurried counted out the 11,000 almost as if he needed to call before he changed his mind.

"Good call," his opponent said as Newlove slid the chips into the middle, and he tabled {q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for queen-high. Newlove showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for a pair of kings.
