A grand total of 14 players will advance to Day 2 from the first of three flights of the €888 Main Event here at the 888Live Festival in Rozvadov. 72 players started and after 12 levels of play in the shadow of the High Roller table, only a select few survived.

Players were given the option of surrendering their stack, as if they didn’t they wouldn’t be able to play any of the two other flights which follow over the next couple of days.

With play finishing shortly after 4 am local time, it was a long one for players who had chosen today as the day to start their Main Event odyssey. By the time the High Roller finished, with [Removed:291] emerging triumphant, only three tables remained. Among the names still in the frame included Opening Event day 1a chip leader Bartosz Szafraniec, who failed to add a second Day 1a chip lead to his poker resume.

Leading the way is Opening Event final tabelist Alexander Dmitrienko with 256,9000 in chips. Hailing from Russia, Dmitrienko finished 7th in the Opening Event which was eventually won by Marek Blaško.

The second flight of the Main Event starts tomorrow at 4 pm. The tournament’s €300,000 guarantee will ensure that both flights 1b and 1c will be packed, with players looking to ensure their place in Day 2.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for all the coverage of the Main Event, right down until the conclusion on Monday evening.

Rachid Allouch Eliminated by Jonas Stechbarth

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

No sooner had Rachid Allouch sent some of his chips to Lukasz Tomecki, he was all in and severely behind against Jonas Stechbarth.

Stechbarth: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Allouch: {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

The flop offered a brief glimmer of hope to Allouch as it came {q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. However the turnw as the {j-Clubs} and the river the {4-Diamonds} meaning he was eliminated with just under half of the final level of the day remaining.

Lukasz Tomecki raised to 4,200 from the cutoff and Rachid Allouch defended his big blind.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Spades} and Allouch lead for 6,200. Tomecki called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The river was the {q-Hearts} and Allouch lead for 11,000. Tomecki snap-called and Allouch appeared to scold himself before showing {k-Spades}

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

After a limp from early position, David Steliac limped from the button and Robert Zipf moved all in for his remaining 20,000. The original limper folded and after much agonising Steliac called.

Steliac: {8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Zipf: {a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

The board ran out: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and the nine on the turn helped Steliac, and Zipf was eliminated.

Rachid Allouch Loves Poker

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Since we last saw Rachid Allouch, he had lost a significant portion of his stack, so much so that he was all in with {9-Hearts}{10-Clubs} against his opponent's stronger and much nicer-looking {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}.

However, the flop turned Allouch's mediocre holdings into a monster as it came {j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}. The vocal Allouch kept quite until the turn, which was the {3-Hearts} before celebrating. "I flopped a straight," he said in German.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Allouch sat down, before exclaiming, in English this time: "I love poker!"
