Andrea Iocco Leads After Day 1b of the 888Live Rozvadov Main Event

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Day 1b Chip Leader Andrea Iocco
Day 1b Chip Leader Andrea Iocco

155 players were whittled down to just 41 after the second of three flights of this the 888Live Rozvadov €888 Main Event. Each player had their eyes on securing at least a small part of the €300,000 guaranteed prize pool which awaits a select few at the end of the tournament, but today was all about guaranteeing a place in Day 2 on Sunday.

With players allowed one re-entry per flight, and late registration open until the start of Day 2, the day started slowly, but reached a crescendo through mid morning as the excitement of qualifiers and pro’s mingling really started to catch on. Some players may have left before securing themselves a stack for Day 2, but they secured themselves a cap and a gift-box for eliminating one of the Team 888 pros.

Sofia Lovgren, Kara Scott, Chris Moorman and Dominik Nitsche were all eliminated, with Moorman and Nitsche re-entering. Nitsche survived to bag 54,500 along with fellow Team 888 pro Natalie Hof (111,000).

Leading the way is Andrea Iocco with 266,200. The Italian had a quiet day, and briefly tangled with High Roller Champion [Removed:291] (111,400) on his way to bagging the chip lead.Jean-Philippe Schoonbrood (152,600) had 300,000 at one point late on, and remarked on bagging up: "He has my chips," perhaps indicating how the pendulum swung Iocco's way late on Day 1.

Other large chip stacks around the room include Peter Marz (251,900), who boosted his stack calling Lazer Gjergji's all-in on a nine-high board with just ace-king. Gjergji held only ace-queen, and Marz's hand held up! Also above the 200,000 mark in chips are Miroslav Forman (216,800), Renee Xie (224,000) and Pavel Berka (202,500).

The final chance for players to join the Main Event action starts tomorrow at 3 p.m. local time. The starting stack is 30,000, and there will be 12 levels livestreamed on Twitch with David Tuchman and Parker ‘tonkaaaap’ Talbot. Be sure to stick around with PokerNews for full chip counts, and continued live coverage from the888Live Festival here in Rozvadov.

William Kassouf

William Kassouf raised to 2,000 from the button and Lazer Gjergji three-bet from the small blind to 3,600. Kassouf called.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Gjergji bet 5,675. Kassouf raised to 15,000.

"I have the best hand. One pair no good. Aces no good. Save your chips," he said.

Gjergji raised to 25,675. Kassouf moved all in for 40,000 and Gjergji called.

"I have backdoor everything, plus the up and down," said Kassouf.

He showed {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} and was behind to Gjergji's {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. The turn was the {j-Spades} and the river the {9-Clubs} and Kassouf was eliminated.

"Can't win one big hand," said Kassouf.

"Mr Coconuts!" said tablemate Rachid Allouch. Kassouf nodded: "I'll drink my tea and then go. I'll be back tomorrow."

Niall Farrell Busts Two Players

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Niall Farrell
Niall Farrell

On a flop of {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} both Aleksandar Tomovic and Niall Farrell check to a third player in the hand who moves all in for his remaining 3,900.

Tomovic eventually calls and Niall Farrell moves all in over the top. Tomovic thinks through his options before calling. Farrell shows {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and is ahead of Tomovic's {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and the third player's {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}.

The turn is the {8-Hearts} and the river the {5-Clubs}.

Niall Farrell's plan for his second bullet is obviously going well!

With players allowed one re-entry per each of the starting flights, some players are starting to take advantage of their second bullets. Pierre Neuville was among one of the first as earlier his pocket aces were cracked when his opponent rivered a straight, and now Aleksandar Tomovic and Niall Farrell have re-entered, the latter of whom going straight to the feature table.

William Kassouf vs Roman Anufriev

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
William Kassouf
William Kassouf

It folded to Roman Anufriev in the small blind who limped and William Kassouf checked saying "Let's keep it friendly."

The flop came {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Anufriev checked to Kassouf who bet 400. His opponent called.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Anufriev check-called a bet of 1,150 from Kassouf, who was noticeably quiet during the hand.

The river was the {6-Hearts}. Both players checked and Kassouf turned over {3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

Anufriev showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a rivered set of sixes and the floodgates opened for Kassouf.

"Obviously. Any sixes about? Bingo six on the river. Obviously," he rambled on, "I lost Aces vs Queens earlier, queen on the flop, but look - still up above starting stack."

Both he and Anufriev are above starting stack with just under half an hour left before the first break of the day.

Niall Farrell Up and Running

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante
Niall Farrell
Niall Farrell

Niall Farrell is obviously pumped to be playing in the 888Live Main Event, and got into a hand from the big blind against Robert Wirth.

Wirth checked a flop of {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} to the Scotsman who bet 300. Wirth called. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and Wirth checked again. This time Farrell bet 700 and Wirth called again.

The river was the {7-Spades} and Wirth checked a third time and Farrell checked behind.

Farrell showed {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for top pair, but Wirth had turned a flush holding {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

"A good tight check," said Farrell as he got his Main Event up and running.
