Atshanti Among Recent Casualties

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Abdullah Atshanti
Abdullah Atshanti

The flop of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts} brought a bet of 4,000 and Abdullah Atshanti raised to 11,000, his opponent from Italy called. The {3-Spades} turn was checked and the {7-Clubs} triggered a bet of 9,000 by the Italian.

"I don't have nine!?" Atshanti said and pushed all in for around that amount, his opponent reluctantly turned over his cards and showed the {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a set. Atshanti flashed {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and headed to the rail.

Assorted Big Stacks

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

After a raise to 2,800, Cinh Coat Le called from one seat over and the rest of the table folded. Action checked to Le on the {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop and his bet of 3,800 did the trick to claim the pot.

Le is one of several players that have recently moved up on the leaderboard.

Last Break for the "Afternoon Players"

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

"Afternoon players, you are on a 15-minute break," the announcement came and that was referring to all remaining players on Day 1d. With 171 unique players and 36 re-entries, there are just 111 of them remaining and they will be back shortly to play the final three levels of the night.

Andreou Busts One

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Anthony Andreou raised to 2,000 and a short stack jammed for 15,000 in the small blind. Andreou called and tabled the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}, the small blind had a flip with {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}. The {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop improved the player at risk, but Andreou locked up the elimination with the {7-Diamonds} turn to make the {9-Spades} river a formality.

Turbo Heat Underway

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The turbo heat has entered level two already with four tables in action and 31 players registered. Kalidou Sow busted 1d and opted to join the turbo heat, and Julien Sitbon may very well do the same.

Kully Sidhu, Rehman Kassam, Henri Vaisanen, Lena Evans and Gary Miller are also already seated.

Miquel Munoz Triples Up; Ivgi Busts

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A raise to 3,500 by Gerald Ringe and a call by the small blind were showing and Ramon Miquel Munoz then shoved for 16,200. Both Ringe and the small blind called and the two remaining active players checked down the board of {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{J-Spades} and Miquel Munoz showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. Ringe mucked {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and the small blind only had the {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Kfir Ivgi jammed into two limpers for around 20 big blinds and behind him, Matthieu Rigolot moved all in over the top to force out the limpers.

Kfir Ivgi: {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Matthieu Rigolot: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The board came {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and ace-high remained best for Rigolot.

Ragone Rivers Higher Set

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Filippo Ragone
Filippo Ragone

Filippo Ragone was all in and at risk with the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and had little to fear as his opponent held the inferior pocket pair with the {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. However, the {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} turn sent the Ragone behind and he jumped up from his chair.

The old "about to leave and get there" trick worked, as Ragone spiked the {9-Spades} river to double.
