Roller Coaster for Mehta

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Iaron Lightbourne and Vikrum Mehta
Iaron Lightbourne and Vikrum Mehta

Facing a cutoff raise to 3,500 and a cold-call on the button, Vikram Mehta jammed the last 35,500 out of the small blind and the button was the only caller.

Mehta had one overcard with {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} against {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and got there on a board of {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Clubs}.

In the next hand he raised the button to 4,000 and Adrian Govea defended the big blind. Govea check-called a triple barrel on the {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} board for 6,500, 12,000 and 22,500. On the turn and river, Govea used one time bank extension each and was good as Mehta only had {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, Govea's {a-Spades}{9-Clubs} had the better pair.

Ivgi More Than Triples

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Alessandro Borsa opened the action with a min-raise to 3,200 and he was called by Vincenzo Pinna. Kfir Ivgi in the cutoff jammed the last 11,600 and the big blind called. Borsa reraised to 35,000, which got everyone else out of the way.

Kfir Ivgi: {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Alessandro Borsa: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

On a board of {10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{j-Spades}, Ivgi made tens and treys to more than triple up.

Bubble Time in the €2,200 High Roller

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

While the Main Event has entered the penultimate level for the night, the €2,200 High Roller is down to the final 12 players and on the money bubble. Carl Shaw was left short and busted not long ago, Chris Moorman suffered the same fate. Others still in contention are Sofia Lovgren, Sergio Alonso, Ignacio Molina, and Sonny Franco.

The blinds will go up shortly and reduce the big blind average to fewer than 40, which remains insanely deep for this stage of the tournament.

David Chaparro Pena: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}
Alberto Blanco: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Jose Luis Rodrigues Garrido: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

Corzo Wins Three-Way Pot

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Rodrigo Corzo
Rodrigo Corzo

Iaron Lightbourne in the small blind called an open-raise and big stack Rodrigo Corzo came along out of the big blind to see the {j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop that was checked through. After the {10-Clubs} turn, Lightbourne bet 2,800 and was called, the preflop raiser upped it to 10,000 and was called both ways.

The {k-Hearts} then fell on the river and that slowed things down, not a single further chip went into the middle. Lightbourne was first to show and flashed the {4-Diamonds} for a pair of fours, which Corzo had beat holding {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}. That won the pot and Lightbourne nodded "why you are so good."

During the hand, Lightbourne had jokingly said he will be playing tomorrow, taking advantage of the re-entry and multi flight entry chance, and even hoped that Corzo would win the pot. At least one of the two things happened, and Corzo joined the bigger stacks towards the end of Day 1a.
