Pots for Castro Ortega and Livtinyuk

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

Ivan Castro Ortega was the initial raiser and the small blind check-raised a flop of {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop to 4,000, which Castro Ortega called. The {j-Hearts} turn was checked and the {5-Hearts} fell on the river. The small blind checked and a hefty bet of 18,100 by Castro Ortega won the pot.

Soon after on the same table, Carmen Zainescu opened to 1,300 from under the gun and was called by the cutoff, the small blind and Elena Litvinyuk in the big blind. Only Litvinyuk check-called a bet of 2,300 on the {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop and then led the {6-Diamonds} turn for 3,000, which Zainescu called.

After the {q-Diamonds} river, Litvinyuk made it 8,000 to go and Zainescu folded.

Macesovic Wins One; Loses One

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

Eduard Popov check-called a bet of 1,300 by Irena Macesovic on the {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{a-Hearts} turn and then led the {10-Diamonds} river for 5,000. Macesovic folded and the pot was shipped to Popov, who remained at half the starting stack.

Shortly after, Macesovic raised to 1,200 and Amit Aroch came along. Macesovic bet the {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop and recovered the chips she previously lost.

103 Entries in the €2,200 High Roller

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

The second-biggest €2,200 High Roller in the history of the 888poker LIVE festival has emerged as the remaining two levels and break on Day 2 boosted the field size from 76 entries to 103 entries. Two years ago at the Casino Barcelona, the very same tournament attracted 113 entries and it was Maria Lampropulos that defeated Alberto Flores Trujillo to scoop the top prize of €54,112.

Only 38 players remain in level 16 with an average stack of 45 big blinds and it will be a long night to reach the final table, and if possible, play down to a champion. The 888poker ambassadors Daria Feshchenko and Sofia Lovgren sit next to each other on a table that also includes Tom-Aksel Bedell and Sonny Franco.

Furthermore still in contention to earn a share of the €195,700 prize pool are Marcin Jaworski, Jon Gurrutxaga, Daniyar Aubakirov, and Andrei Nodea. Martin Jacobson battles with fellow 888poker ambassador Dominik Nitsche on the same table while three Brits are one table over in Chris Moorman, Charlie Combes and Carl Shaw.

Ivgi Loses to Messina

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Teresa Gutierrez Ramos limped the cutoff and what followed was a raise to 2,000 by Renato Messina on the button, a call from the small blind and Kfir Ivgi in the big blind. They checked the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop and the small blind check-called a bet of 5,000 by Ivgi while Gutierrez Ramos folded and Messina also called.

On the {9-Clubs} river, only Messina called a bet of 15,000 by Ivgi who revealed the {k-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Messina had that beat with the {a-Spades}{6-Hearts} for a straight to scoop the pot.

Updated Counts From Level 4

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Garcia Into the Lead

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Jose Carlos Garcia
Jose Carlos Garcia

Jose Carlos Garcia was one of the up and coming players in Poland and dominated the online tables a while ago. He was then nowhere to be found for a few years and has suddenly emerged on Day 1a here in Madrid, and just scored a massive pot to take over the lead in level four.

It all started with a raise to 900 and a three-bet to 3,500. Garcia cold four-bet to 9,000 and the three-bettor was the only caller. On a board of {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}{9-Clubs}, Garcia fired all the way with barrels of 8,000, 22,000 and 100,000. His opponent check-called each bet and called all-in for around 80,000 on the river.

Garcia tabled the {a-Spades}{j-Spades} for top two pair and had the {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} of the three-bettor beat.
