Set Over Set Gives Paunescu a Double Knockout

Level 2 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante
Stefan Paunescu
Stefan Paunescu

Daniel Maynard, Qing Feng Zheng, and Stefan Paunescu each put in 2,000 before the flop as they went three-handed to see 274.

Maynard led out for 5,000 from the small blind and Zheng called under the gun. Paunescu also called in the cutoff and the 8 fell on the turn.

Maynard then moved all in for 21,000, Zheng shoved for his last 25,000, and Paunescu snap-called. Maynard had 99 for an overpaid, but he was far behind as Zheng showed 44 for a set of fours and Paunescu turned over 77 for a set of sevens.

"That's brutal," Zheng said as the 8 fell on the river to send both him and Maynard to the rail.

"I have to take a picture of that," Maynard said before joining Zheng on the walk to the exit.

Lloyd Runs Into a Cooler

Level 2 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

David Lloyd was just on the wrong end of another unfortunate cooler, and this one cut his day short early.

With around 4,000 in the pot on a board of 82A6, Andrea Peroni bet 2,800 from the big blind before Lloyd raised to 7,500 on the button. Peroni responded by moving all in.

"Oh man," Lloyd sighed before he slammed in his last 15,000, turning over A6 for two pair. Peroni, though, showed him AA for top set and Lloyd was already drawing dead and heading for the exit by the time the 5 fell on the river.
