Zaccagnini Goes Runner-Runner to Triple

Level 9 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With 14,000 in the pot on a flop of J810, Mario Zaccagnini bet 10,000 from middle position and Soufiane Saada called on the button. An early-position player then raised to 23,000 and Zaccagnini called for his last 20,200. Saada took a few minutes but also called to create a side pot.

Saada and his opponent checked down the Q turn and 2 river. "Anyone have jack-nine of diamonds?" Zaccagnini asked as he showed AA for the nut flush. Saada mucked Q6, while the middle-position player tossed 1010 for a beaten set into the muck.

Togores Flops the Goods to Bust One

Level 9 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Three-handed on a flop of 947, a player in the hijack bet 1,000 and Claudio Di Giacomo raised to 3,500 on the button. Francisco Togores then reraised to 12,000 in middle position and only the hijack called.

The turn was the A and Togores moved all in. The hijack snap-called for 25,000 with A8 for top pair, but Togores had flopped a flush with 108, leaving his opponent looking only for another club to make a higher flush.

The A river instead gave him only no-good trips as Togores scored the knockout.

Flashback: Manuel Ledesma Comes Back to Win 888poker LIVE Madrid Main Event

Level 8 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Manuel Ledesma
Manuel Ledesma

Last year in Madrid, it was a storybook finish for Spain’s Manuel Ledesma under the bright lights of the final table at his home poker room.

After starting the final day as the short stack with just 10 big blinds, the Madrid resident battled his way back at Casino Gran Via, staying alive several times before finishing the night holding the coveted €888 Main Event trophy and taking home €58,000. The win was a test of his endurance, after surviving the Day 1b turbo before bagging at the end of 11 more levels of play on Day 2.

Ledesma outlasted a field of 435 entries across four starting flights to take the largest portion of the €333,905 prize pool. The final first-place prize was decided after a heads-up deal with runner-up Juan Lyons, who earned €52,000 for his efforts.

Alejandro Martin in before a player in the cutoff raised to 4,000. Alberto Diaz called on the button before the big blind three-bet to 12,000. Martin called all in for 10,900, while Diaz also called.

The flop came J810 and the big blind continued for 11,000. Diaz called and the 4 fell on the turn. The big blind then slowed down and checked as Diaz fired out 17,000.

The big blind spent several minutes in the tank into the dinner break before folding. Diaz then turned over AK, while Martin had KK and secured the triple up once the 10 fell on the river.

Jon San Juan: AA All in
Opponent: AQ

San Juan had picked up aces and was a big favorite to double up as the flop came J64. The K turn gave his opponent a straight draw, but San Juan held on through the 8 river to secure the pot and stay alive.
