Hero Call Goes Wrong For Davenport; Sheils Takes a Chunk Off Grant
Matthew Davenport raised to 5,000 on the button, Shi Dong three-bet to 15,000 in the small blind, and Davenport called.
The flop came K♥4♣5♦ and Dong bet 10,000. Davenport called, and they both checked the Q♥ turn.
Dong then moved all in for 48,000 on the 7♣ river, and Davenport tanked for a few minutes before calling. Dong turned over A♠A♣, and Davenport's 5♣2♣ quickly hit the muck as he was left with just one big blind.
At the same time at an adjacent table, Brandon Sheils and Terry Grant had built a pot of around 40,000 on a flop of J♣9♦Q♠ when Sheils bet 11,500 from the hijack. Grant called in early position.
Sheils bet another 27,500 on the A♦ turn, and Grant again called. Both players checked down the 6♣ river, and Sheils turned over A♠K♠. Grant mucked K♣Q♣.
