888poker XL Inferno Series Day 15: 'Alien_Army' Wins Main Event for Almost $300K

On the final day of the 888poker XL Inferno Series, there were 17 tournaments on the schedule.

Most of the attention went to the $1,500,000 Main Event, which had a buy-in of $1,050. This was the highlight on Day 15 but there was more with some big winners in other events. Let's see who took down the Main Event and the other events on this final day of the series.

The tournament started at 6 p.m. GMT, but with five hours of late registration, players had the option to start a bit later. At the end of registration, there were 1,319 players and 436 rebuys to create a total prize pool of $1,755,000. For the winner, it would be a massive payday of $298,350.

Kenny "SpaceyFCB" Hallaert, Pius "AMasta89" Heinz, Ruben "rubenrtv" Visser, Mike "SirWatts" Watson, Alexandr "Biack88" Trofimov, Thomas "WushuTM" Muhlocker, Tobias "Bale_11" Garp and Fabrizio "DrMiKee" Gonzalez busted pretty quickly and well before the money.

Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche, Artem "veeea" Vezhenkov, Nicolas "PKaiser" Fierro, Chris "888Moorman" Moorman, Adrian "ADRI_ATM" Mateos and Parker "888tonkaaaa" Talbot also didn't manage to reach the stage of the tournament where money was awarded.

The bubble burst when Steven "Kale333" van Zadelhoff busted two players with ace-queen. Van Zadelhoff was the first player over a million, but he saw his run end before the final table. He bluffed his chips away with ace high and had to watch the rest of the tournament from the sidelines.

Doug Polk also didn't make to the final table after getting a huge bad beat with ace-king against ace-jack. He lost the rest with ace-ten to pocket sixes.

Simon "Isildur1337x" Matsson bubbled the final table after losing with king-four against ace-nine. On the final table, "beebsterizer" went out in ninth place with ace-ten against ace-nine. From that moment on, Alien_Army took control of the tournament.

He busted both "p000cket000" and "Ibeturaise2x" in quick succession and stevachenko won a coin flip to bust "Fukuruku" in sixth place.

After that, "PacoMonon" ended in fifth place for $86,872 while Russia's "sweet_dr34ms" settled for fourth place. Just a few moments later, "sngguru" saw his tournament end when he lost the crucial coin flip with pocket fours against the ace-king of Alien_Army.

Alien_Army played heads-up against stevachenko7 and the two decided to make a deal which left $30,000 in the middle for the winner. It didn't take long for Alien_Army to decide the tournament, but luck was involved. Stevachenko7 was all in with pocket kings against queen-four, but the Austrian managed to hit two fours and win the tournament for $291,007. The Czech Republic's runner-up received $226,717.

888poker XL Inferno Series Day 10: "spud_gun888" Wins Super High Roller

On the tenth day of the 888poker XL Inferno Series, there were eleven new tournaments.

Most attention went to the XL Inferno #126 - $5,200 XL Inferno Super High Roller Chip In, where the High Roller competed for a huge prize pool. Let's take a look at who took the most money and the results in other tournaments.

XL Inferno #126 - $5,200 XL Inferno Super High Roller Chip In

Buy-inDatePlayersPrize pool
$5,200May 16121$810,000

Players started the tournament with 20,000 chips and had the option to do a rebuy in the case of losing all their chips. At the end of the registration period, there were 121 players and 41 rebuys to create a total prize pool of $810,000 which was divided by the last 18 players.

Long before the money was reached players like Chris "888Moorman" Moorman, Artem "veeea" Vezhenkov, Thomas "WushuTM" Muhlocker, Doug "DougPolkPKR" Polk, Scott "AggroSantos" Margereson, Mike "SirWatts" Watson, Roman "Romeopro33" Romanovskyi, Jussi "jnevanli" Nevanlinna and Sergio "zcedrick" Aido were all busted from the tournament.

Before the bubble came in sight, the tournament lost Niklas "tutten7" Astedt, Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche, Adrian "ADRI_ATM" Mateos, Jonathan "chut_up" Von Fleet, Parker "888tonkaaa" Talbot and Anton "anteen" Bertilsson. On the bubble, "aIderfaIder" lost with his pocket jacks against ace-five and he was the last player to leave the tournament empty-handed.

The final table was reached after more than one hour and it started with just seven players. On the bubble of the final table, "sweetness158" and Robin "Inho" Yitalo were both busted so only seven players took a seat.

In quick succession, "iBotPauseNot" (seventh, $32,400), "Vickktor" (sixth, $40,500) and "AlreadyHigh" (fifth, $48,600) busted. From that moment, it was a long grind with the final four players. In the end, "ZeusLAZER" was sent to the rail on the fourth place after losing with ace-ten against ace-jack.

Fabricio "DrMiKee" Gonzalez ended up all in for his last nine big blinds with ace-six against the ace-seven of chip leader "spud_gun888". Once again, the best hand hold up and Gonzalez was sent to the rail in third place for $98,415.

Once again, "Kannwas" made it to the final table after finished in second place in the $2,100 High Roller earlier this series. This time he started with a 3:1-deficit and once again he couldn't win. On a king-five-seven-six-ten board, he bet-called all in with eight-ten for the second pair. That wasn't good enough because "spud_gun888" showed six-ten for two pair.

"Kannwas" had to settle for $129,600, while "spud_gun888" secured himself of the top spot for $186,300.

On the eighth day of the XL Inferno Series on 888poker, players could enjoy a huge day of poker.

In total, sixteen tournaments started with the XL Inferno #97 - $200,000 Tune Up as one of the highlights. There was also the $600 buy-in $200,000 Whale edition where the winner won more than $50,000. Let's have a look at the results.

XL Inferno #97 - $200,000 Tune Up

Buy-inDatePlayersPrize pool
$160May 141,171$260,700

After over 13 hours of play, Event #97 - $160 XL Inferno Tune Up, finally crowned a winner. It was "PokerMogo" from Romania who claimed the first place prize of $44,996.82 after defeating "renatonomura" in heads-up play.

The event had 1,171 players register with 567 rebuys for a total of 1738 total entries. They created a prizepool of $260,700 with 153 places getting paid. It was "CzarBushov" from Canada that finished on the bubble and was unable to break into the money.

After nearly 10 hours of play, the tournament dwindled down to nine players which made up the official final table. It was "PokerMogo" who went on an early heater as he scored the first three knockout on the final table. He eliminated "PacoMonon" in 9th place ($2,867.70), "veeea" in 8th place ($5,083.65), and "Kelvin_kerbe" in 7th place ($7,690.65), two of which he held aces on the elimination hand.

"SoulRead88uk" ($10,297.65) and "Pelfort" ($12,904.65) would grind short stacks for awhile but would eventually fall to "surprisefirm" in back-to-back hands for 6th place and 5th place respectively. "IWant2Gamble" was left on the short stack but stayed aggressive by pushing all-in and stealing the blinds. However, he was finally caught when he pushed with ace-five, and "PokerMogo" woke up with ace-king. The board ran out dry and "IWant2Gamble" was eliminated in 4th place ($18,144.72).

The remaining three players were all extremely deep and would play three-handed for over an hour. Finally it was "surprisefirm" that was all-in but with the best hand. Unfortunately, "renatonomura" would hit an eight on the flop and held on to secure his place in the final two, sending "surprisefirm" to the rail in 3rd place ($24,766.50).

The two players went into heads-up play fairly even in chips but it would be "renatonomura" that would take a three-to-one chip lead over "PokerMogo" early on. Shortly after, "PokerMogo" reversed his fortune and took back the chip lead and continued to build on it. Finally all the chips got in the middle with "PokerMogo" holding {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} against "renatonomura"'s {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. The board ran out {J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

"renatonomura" would finish in 2nd place ($32,587.50) and "PokerMogo" took down the title!
